MBM FOODSERVICE DISTRIBUTOR
Question:
Does anybody have any info on this company or franchise food service, sysco

Answer:
My achin' back. BOL

Answer:
Looked into one of these deals a couple of years ago. Basically, they aren't hiring you to drive a truck. lnstead, they are hiring a delivery person with a CDL. You go from delivery point to delivery point all day long unloading food service orders. You have to park in some pretty bad spots for a truck and trailer, behind bars, restaurants, and other food based businesses. You will do a lot of fingerprint work, handling the load on and off the truck, and carting it into the customers place.
Benefit are that you get home every night, and it's local work. In Michigan, the pay was running about 16.50 dollars an hour. Most of the companies have full benefits programs, and the thrucks are typically short single axles with 28 foot trailers.
I decided that it was not my cup of tea, I'd rather drive than be a route salesman. And they tend to put more stops on the truck than you can really handle, so you have to keep hopping all day long to get done.

Answer:
As long as your in good Physical shape. You'll have ice/snow to deal with.
Just because the weather is foul doesn't mean you "STOP"
I use to do route sales in FL plus I did LTL. I worked in the pouring rain, 90 plus degree heat. A lot of hard physical work in addition to driving. So you work outside in all kinds of weather.
There are a lot of people that do it everyday. If there wasn't, there would be no food/supplies at restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, military bases, mom and pop grocery stores...etc.

Answer:

MBM? Nope.
Franchise? Night deliveries to KFC, Pizza hut, and Taco Bell. Lots of physical work, unloading in ALL TPES OF WEATHER. Hope you have good customer service skills, not only are you a delivery driver, you are also a represenitive to that company to the public.

That hit the nail on the head. Hope you can back up REAL GOOD and fit a 48' trailer with a sleeper in some cases into a parking lot built for cars, or back across a busy street in the middle of the day.

Answer:
If delivering to mbm is any indication of what they would be like to work for..god help ya

Answer:
I did local LTL reefer doing about 15-20 stops a day for about 2 weeks, the company didn't see me as a truck driver than rather a UPS driver, the main thing that killed me wasn't the physical part but going in and out of a 40 degree trailer to 100+ degree heat, in and out all day long my head killed me it gave me killer headaches and exhausted me quicker, just something to think about that might affect you. Good luck.
Answer:
I find dealing with the various customers to be the worst part. Many of them can be real bas--rds. They're the big fish in thier little ponds...lol...Always complaining and b--ching, like you're the only person in the whole company. You have to deal with things such as lunch hour/hours, where many customers will not let you in if u arrive there at lunch. Some prohibit delivery from 1030 to 200 or more. So if your next stop is 20 miles away, it can screw up your whole day, causing you to inconvenience the rest of your customers. BUT....usually the routes are set up so that this problem is reduced. U just have to keep moving. Forget taking a lunch. But some places will feed you if you're lucky or they like you. Alot of the customers can be cool. Just depends on how you get on with people. Getting home every eve was nice. Good workout but you have to watch your back. Many places have stairs you have to take the 2 wheeler down, sometimes even up. Many have small, cramped kitchens with slippery, greasy floors and various junk in the way.
I liked the reefer. When its hot as hell out and you're working your a-- off, it was nice to cool down for a minute or two when returning to the trailer to load up again. Its not a bad job, just get reay to sweat and grit your teeth when dealing with some customers.
I didn't find the driving too hard but i had a little 28 footer. Most of the places i delivered to were pizzieras and other small restaruants. I don't know what Syscos's typical cliental are.

Answer:
Most of these guys are right but a few were incorrect.
1. Unload whole trailer by hand and roll it in,some are tailgate stops where the customer will meet you at the trailer.
2. Work in all types of weather(rain, sleet, snow, ice)Foddservice and petroleum have no holidays or weekends people want to eat and get gas.
3. Difficult driving conditions when going through the parking lots, most are next to malls and all sorts of other crap.
4. With Sysco you would get home everynight but not MBM
If you don't mind working and want to get in shape, the money is good and it's not a bad job despite what i said,i done it for 2.5 years at Dominos, basically the same thing just different food.
