Anyone know anything about CRST?
Question:
Thinking of starting a career in trucking and so far from this forum I shouldn't I live in West Mempis AR I've talked to People in person from Schneider and true the paid training is a + but they want a 18 month commitment where as CRST wants 6 months but you have to pay for the liscense fees anyone know anything about this company... thanks
Answer:
Wow, if the 18 month time duration is true, they've extedned it!. The last I heard was it was a year-long contract and then you free to leave at any time without owing Schneider a dime.
Only 6 months for CRST??? Jeeze when did that happen? That used to be at least a year.
Unless anything else has changed, CRST is mainly a teaming company. If teaming is not an option for you, you probably should go with Schneider or look elsewhere.
Both CRST and Schneider are considered somewhat bottom of the barrel when it comes to pay. Most of the people I've ever talked to who drive/drove for CRST either hate them or love them. Schneider does offer solo positions, but unless you luck up and get a dedicated route, you'll likely be running all 48 states in a rickety old truck. Schneider does offer some of the best company-provided training in the industry however. But its still a CDL marathon. And Schneider often gets students into their own truck faster than most any other carrier.
Both of the companies have good point and bad points. Schneider trucks for example are slow as hell. And you would be well advised to consider other alternatives. However, you could also do a lot worse.
-Good luck

Answer:
Better check and see if CRST is going to make you team up in that 6 months. They prob will.202 N Main Street

Answer:
Crst is still team only. Think real hard before you go for it. It was a nightmare for me.

Answer:
Well, this new hire was telling me his experience with CRST. He had to go to Fontana, CA for orientation and training. He 'hooked up" with the trainer for 6 weeks straight. Trainer was a jerk (mildly putting it) Making about $400 per week. He started in April, he quit in Sept. He was unhappy with them, he will never go back to or any OTR company. Keep researching and looking. Good luck.Ivey EnviroTech Services

Answer:

Schneider is a 12 Month commitment after your hire date. You can get into a truck in as little as 4 weeks, although most everyone is 5 weeks. You do not have to pay for the training if you stay the full one year. You DO have to pay for your own license at the DMV. They will reimburse you for the HazMat fingrprinting.
