Question:
Rumor has it that PAM's fleet is now all with automatic transmissions??? Does anyone know the specs of the majority of their fleet?
I'll be going with them when I graduate from school and am trying to find out what I can about there operations, any info on the tractors or the company would be appreciated.

You can bet that the Operations Manager and the Safety Director of P.A.M. have the information at their fingertips. If you want info, rather than rumors, call the company and ask to speak to either of the above.

I just got off the phone with PAM's transportation department. They were very cooperative however were not able to furnish me much information...
They said they are running Freightliner, Volvo & Macks with standard sleeper berths. The majority of there fleet is now auto trannies and they are converting the entire fleet over the next several months.
That's about it.......but thank you guys for the advice......

I think you are envisioning several thousand cartons that need to be humped to the rear of the trailer. In actuality, that usually means that the loading dock has a pallet jack available for you to use, and you roll the pallets out to the dock. Except for some deals like a Dollar General account where stuff is unloaded by hand, that's what is usually involved. But it never hurts to confirm with the company how they do it beforehand.

Besides, if you get up in the warehouse the minute you arrive wanting to unload or assist with the unloading process even though it may not be required you'll more than likely be bumped ahead in line over the disgusting slob that showed up 4 hours before you who just sits in his cab.
