JB Hunt Transport
Question:
Been approved for hire with JB for a dedicated Circuit City account out of Groveland,Fl.I will run,NC,FL,SC,AL, and Ga.Does anyone have any experience about this account good or bad or anyone knows anyone that done this account before?Pays $.30 mile, off s/m and suppose to average 1800-2300 a week.Stay safe out there now people. Answer: Well, I worked for old JB better than 12 years ago, and I was making more per mile than that when I left back in 1994, and getting more miles to boot. I'll bet you that you're going to lump a lot of freight-JB seems to specialize in floor loads. It's gonna be lots of fun hand unloading every day in the deep south for cr@p wages..... Answer: Dont count your chickens before they hatch. Your application will not even be started to be processed until you show up for orientation. I attended a JB orientation several years ago and saw men, one by one, get called out of the room and never return. But I tried JB twice and told them to stick it twice. I wouldnt touch those people with a ten foot pole. Talk about a bunch of "brain dead" dispatchers or fleet managers, as they like to call them. 1800 miles per week @ 30 cpm=$540.00 Hell I was making that in the late 60s and early 70s. Answer: What happened to that 42 cents per mile I keep hearing advertised on XM? For $300 down, you can become a lease O/O with JB and make one of the best pay scales in the industry. 85 cents per mile plus fuel sur-charge. you can lease one of their top of the line Freightliners. I love this $hit......Reminds me of listening to Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Howard Stern, Art Bell. Answer: That's only for drivers in the north who have at least some idea of what a profit is and won't work for nothing. Sadly, there is no shortage of clueless guys in the south who will actually work for peanuts, and even smile about it (albiet toothlessly). These are probably the same guys who listen to those talk show hosts as well-especially Art Bell!!! Answer: I thank you all for those responses about this topic.I am wondering whether or not to actually do this account or not. It's a driver assist unload at times.Suppose to pay $3.50 for every extra stop per half hour.I'm looking at a major company out of the norhteast called NRS.They have terminals across the country. They have a terminal in the tampa,fl area. They pull for Macy's and Bloomingdales dept. stores.Actually, they're called Keystone. They're under the NRS umbrella. If anybody knows anything about this company please respond whether good or bad. Thanks for your responses once again. Answer: Dedicated, pays lower than OTR most everyone who starts OTR will be payed .36 mile. Paper work isnt right, trying to hide something, bad P test, and drinking while at orientation are all reasons why most dont make it past that point. Among other reasons. If I remember right Circuit City pays 12 n hr to unload. Talked to one driver in Fl who was doing it said he was making good money. However you can bet he worked for it. Most times unload pay, and stop pay more than make up for the lack of miles. However you really have to be good at the unload. In other words in good shape and fast at it. Look I do a dedicated account for them. .36 mile, stop pay, hr pay at 12hr for detintion, and safty meetings. I do around 2200 to 2400 miles a week. Leave 12 noon Wed. Back home on Sun morn, afternoon. Get up Mon take ld to somewhere around D/FW. Back at house Mon afternoon. Take Tues off.Leave Wed. Log around 47 to 55 hrs each week. Just like clock work. No hassles, they leave me alone. If I ask for something in their power I get it. Always in TS in the aftermoon for easy parking. Only drive no more than 10 hrs, never split break. Easy job, gravy way to make a living. Like Ill be headed back to Sturats Draft Va from Denison TX. Leave Wed at noon drive around 6.5hrs to Little Rock AR take a 10hr break. Get going around 5am drive 10 hrs to the east side of Knoxville TN somewhere. Take 10hr break. Get going around 2 am or so be in Sturats Draft around 7 to 930 am about 5.5 to 6 hrs there. Use the last of my hrs to pu bh. Sometimes come back dead head. Sat drive 10hs back to AR. Then 7 or 8 hrs to the house. Just too easy. A 6.5 hr day, three 10 days, one 7 or 8 hr day. Oh one last thing I can afford to live and work that way. This week I left at 12 Wed was home 630am on Sun took Mon off, drop ld in Denison today, was home by 1230, leave Wed at noon back to VA. Is this what you want? Who knows, but I know I want no part of 3000+ weeks, weeks out on the road, pu lds at all hrs of the night. Sitting around waiting on lds. The regular stuff most people think makes a good company. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
