Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

Hey Newbies, What's Up
Question:
I've seen alot of newbies make post asking questions and making comments once or twice. Then never see them post again.
I don't know about others but I like to see the outcome. What happened, what did you decide, did you get the answers you were looking for. Lots of new people come around asking about this company or that company while trying to decide where to go. WELL, where did you go?
It's like a movie that has no ending, "To Be Continued" and you never see the second part. Well are you happy with your decision or does trucking suck. I for one would like to hear from those that have been here then disappeared.

Usually, it's because they didn't hear what they WANTED to hear.

I agree! It would be nice to hear (the good and bad), of whatever company you went to.

I hate 'movies' that end like that! It's like them damn 'soap operas', miss 'em for 17 weeks, finally catch an episode, then find out that you really didn't miss a dang thing.
C'mon you Newbies! Let us know if our advice (if you took it) was good, was the company you chose worth a hoot, WHAT???????

Answer:
only a few have the guts to come back and say I should have listened, others are just out for themselves, get what they want and don't have the manners to come back and say thanks.

I have asked a few questions in the past couple of weeks, and received a few answers. I have done quite a bit of research and made a desicion to go with Schneider if they will take me. I passed my CDL class a written tests last week and my HazMat written test yesterday (Thursday)! I sent in my application on Monday and will call the recruiter later today to confirm that he received it.
I am ready to go train in Dallas in January, and look forward to being on the road. I have gathered the "tools" and items I will need to live in a truck for 3 or 4 weeks at a time.
I really appreciate the help I have receive here and at other web sites dedicated to the trucking industry.
I look forward to joining you on the road, and will do my best to keep and eye on the rest!
Thanks

See!!! There IS somebody that appreciates a little help! Sounds like someone has done some research, found the answers and is going with a company that fits the needs.
I, for one, look forward to any 'updates' that you may post.
Good Luck!

I would like to hear your adventures, good or bad. And would also like to hear if you felt like you made a good decision, and why. Look in the archives under author MayberryTJ, thats how I went about it. Made some mistakes and learned from them, although most I didnt realize untill I had left that carrier. My bad, I would do it diferent.
Well it looks like time to come a ground soon for me, captian is outa hours ya know
TJ

Answer:
I think people are afraid to post with who they went with, Because when they do people jump all over them and then the threds get out of hand with company bashing instead of helping out the person with what they might need to get them through the tough times. Why don't we make threds for just the carriers, for example just swift or warrner or cr eng. and have the people who went with these companies give there inside story on them with out us jumping all over the thred. just have the real story from people who are going through it. just a thought.

Hoss & AsphaltHauler, I will post more as things progress.
Thanks for the compliment Hoss!
I am sure there are quite a few that have gathered information from hear and other sites and made "hopefully" well informed decisions about the company that will "fit" their needs the best, in light of their current situations.
mole, the idea of ridicule does not bother me so much. I take most of what people have to say with a grain of salt! I have fairly thick skin and usually just let the ridiculers say their piece.
I do agree that some out there may tend to shy away from the lime light. While seperate forums may help some, I like the openness of this forum so that we can gain different viewpoints on all of the companies out there. <---Very enlighting stuff..... I say...

Answer:
KatManT keep on posting, we like it.
By the way I didn't see anyone harrasing you for going to Schneider. We don't always jump all over people for their decisions. Unles it's with a lease outfit and they want to tell us how great they are.
Now where did the rest of you go????????????????
How about "chad from arkansas", are you still interested in trucking? And many more.
"Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it"

Answer:
Correct, We don't always jump all over people, I should have worded that better, I just think some people get a little gun shy of saying that there going with a big outfit after what the see in here sometimes. But if that co. works for them so be it. as long as we all learn something and get the EXP and move on to bigger and better things.

I have not been posting because I am still trying to decide on a school and company. I will not be out of the military until April. So I am trying to decide on a school that will get me into a good company. Frederick Community College in Frederick, MD is PTDI. So if I go with them. I can get on with CRETE, because CRETE only takes students with PTDI certification. Then there is Shippers Choice in Virginia. They give a class through Thomas Nelson Community College, and if I get with them. I can get on with McElroy Trucking. Then I have been looking at ROEHL, but if I go with their training. I will be bounded by a year contract. So I am still trying to make the right decision, but I wanted to drive a truck since I was 18. So I am definately looking forward to it, but I want to make its intro right to me and my family.

Answer:
Please keep us updated with your progress, as I am interested in it and so are many others also. I belive that if people posted in this forum that more and more people new to trucking would post their experiences as well.
I remember when I was a newbie and coming to the Truck Net. There was many of us newbies posting, thus taking alot of the bs out of posting and wory of getting personally slammed.
Back then everyone was helpful and willing to lend some advice, weather good or bad. Some of the most helpful advice came from people like ChoclitSnda, especially if OTR trucking was your bag. Now I know there was other posters that gave good helpfull advice that I have forgotten, and to those people I apologize, She was the one that stuck out in my head.
This is by and far the best BBS around, why dont we all help out a little and make the newbies feel welcome and give them a little courage to post once again. I know we can do it! Lets make this the best source for newbies once again. Who's with me?
