Coming back after a 2 yr break
Question:
Ok, I didn't know what board to post this on. I guess I am a newbie all over again Here is my question.......... I have 4 yr experience and took 2 yrs off and what to go back driving again. Does anyone know of any companies that would take me back. I never had any accidents or tickets in those 4 yrs or even in my car when I was off for the 2. The last company that I drove for ( and don't anyone laugh...LOL) was JB...But JB won't take me back because of being off for 2 yrs. I might need a refresher course, but I really don't want to do that if I don't have to. Hope you guys and ladies can help me a little bit. Thanks Cindy Answer: Try the BIG PUMPKIN(Schenider). They may require you take a refresher course from them but it is worth a shot. BOLSPEECH IS WORDS THAT THEY WILL BEND FREEDOM WITH THIER EXCEPTION" Metallica "Eye of the Beholder" Answer: hi big, I too am going back september 12th after being off 3 yrs (J.B. told me no also) I am starting with SRT in Ashdown Ar. I read a lot of stuff about them can't find too much wrong with them. Most people worry about thir affiliation with Covenent, but the recruiter tells me they paid them off and are on their own again. 4 years should get around .35 or .36 so thats not all that bad. They told me as long as I could pass a road test I could go out without a trainer.Live in St. Louis? Looking for concrete truck drivers....great pay and benifits...pm for details Answer: SRT isn't a bad choice. They have lots of coat to coast runs. But there are the little ones in the middle and being new you probably won't get the choice runs for a while. Just be nice to dispatch. I saw a driver get the boot for cussing at the dispatch window. They were trying to tell him to clean up his filthy truck and that they did not allow drivers to yell and cuss out their dispatchers. he did it again in front og them and out he went. But if you are being screwed by dispatch they have or atleast had a very open door policy and they will listen. I witnessed that also. You can hear alot of things when your nosey, I am nosey. Answer: Thanks Outkast...I will check them out. Answer: hey stuffs sorry to hijack here but how was srt to drive for as in equipment, layover, and how often were you asked to be illegal? sorry again for the hijackingLive in St. Louis? Looking for concrete truck drivers....great pay and benifits...pm for details Answer: I have never been asked to run illegal by any company. But SRT like most books tight loads and you are expected to get it there. Trucks and trailers were all nice and most were fairly new. I never laid over. That was before the reset thing we have now. No doubt they use that to their benefit like most companies. The only real plus I would give them which was also a big attractor for Covenant drivers at the time is the average length of haul. lots of east west loads of 2500 miles or so. Covenant and SRT would swap drivers if one wanted to go to the other at that time. No one I saw went to Covenant but alot of their drivers and some trainees went to SRT. Now since the debt is paid I doubt they do. if you see a SRT truck and trailer and get close. There use to be a small graphic on the bottom rear of the trailers that said "A Covenant company". If that is gone Covenant would be also. I do remember alot of talk by drivers about Covenant taking over dispatch etc and the horror of it. That never happened. SRT stayed in charge of their trucks. I can't remember the exact amount so don't quote me on it but the loan was around 10mil with a 4 year payback. It was suppose to have been paid a year or more ago. I have talked with 3 SRT drivers who all said they were out. But thats driver so you never know. They use to openly discuss the Covenant deal, all except money. If the recruiters are saying it's over it probably is. Answer: thanks for the reply, I've done alot of research and do believe they are a good company....other than the high price of family coverage ins. I have to be there sept 12th for oreintation so I hope my research pays offLive in St. Louis? Looking for concrete truck drivers....great pay and benifits...pm for details Answer: Just talked to Trans Am.....Said that it won't be a problem, but I would probably just have to be with a trainer for a week. Anyone know anything about Trans Am??? Answer: From what I know about them you will learn to "balance" the log book with them. They will run the p***s out of you if you let them.'' Answer: Where in PA are you?? Answer: I have worked for Trans Am since april 2005 and so far no complaints.I am still learning but am happy so far. I really love the automatics it takes so much stress off you and you can concentrate more on the road in my opinion. Another thing that surprised me is that during 3 days of orientation the owner of Trans Am is there in the room to answer any questions you may have. So I can recommend Trans Am to anyone looking for a descent company to work for ,unlike USA trucking for whom I started out with, man they were a joke. Answer: Are all Trans Am trucks automatics? How many of the other companies have automatics. Answer: Trans Am has a few manual trucks but they give ya a choice on what you want. I know US Express has auto and i hear Pam is going all auto. Answer: They are changinging the rules in Oct. You might have to ask John Q Public for clarification but... you can work 4 years then take a 2 year break then work an additional 7 years then spend 8 years in your sleeper then you can work another 14 years Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
