the black dog....
Question:
my ex co-driver and I were talking the other day about a story my grandfather told us when we both started trucking. It concerend a black dog that drivers see when they are tired. That is about all of the story we can remember so I was wondering if anyone can help me get the rest. ThanksLive in St. Louis? Looking for concrete truck drivers....great pay and benifits...pm for details Answer: There is a trucking movie called "Black Dog". It has that dude from "Dirty Dancing" in it...whatever is name is. Pretty good movie. Answer: a black dog drove by in a red pickup truck Churchill attempted to ward off his black dog Black dog is a chiefly British slang phrase coined by Winston Churchill ultimate driving songs - Black Dog Rush - Led Zeppelin Black Dog 1998 An ex-con takes a job driving a truck cross country. ...watch out for the Black Dog, a mysterious nighttime apparition that plagues overworked truckers... Patrick Swayze, Meat Loaf, Randy Travis, Gabriel Casseus. It's possible this movie was taken from the story about seeing a black dog while driving, that your grandfather told. Sorry about all the stuff, but I got carried away looking for it. Answer: An excellent movie, from the time that Patrick Swayze forgot to release the parking brakes and stalled out (ROFL) to the time he seperated a tractor from the trailer of another big truck while driving. Anyway, I have never seen that black dog myself, but the movie suggests that it comes to take everything away when a trucker has been at it too long, be it running 500 miles in a day, or just plain old burned out like I am presently. Answer: thats it the sleepy driver tries to avoid the dog thus running the truck off a cliff and dying...that was it...didn't know it was a movie though, I'll have to check it out. thanks to all for the repliesLive in St. Louis? Looking for concrete truck drivers....great pay and benifits...pm for details Answer: I've never heard of the Black Dog, it's very interesting. I can tell you that for some reason I see large trees on the sides of the road when I am way to tired. i've done that a couple times. I also saw a highway sign dance around one time. I never let it go that far any longer, to dangerous. When i first started OTR I wanted the runs and the money so I would drive for hours non stop. Even with my trainer I drove 14 hours never stopping while he slept. But the fact is that is the most stupid irresponsible thing you can do. Not only to yourself but to others on the road. DON'T DO IT. Answer: Running in just California you can drive 12hrs and on duty total 16hrs. I run in just Cali now and I usually run my 12hr limit everyday, and sometimes when I'm burned out at night I see dark silhouette shapes of people next to the road, at first it freaked me out and now... well now lets just say don't stand next to the road while I'm driving Answer: I start seeing low bridges or the horizon will descend when I been at it too long. One time back in the day, as if that was soooooooo long ago, I almost saw a ramp on Rt. 17 in the Catskills region that wasn't really there. Nice area to drive through, but not the place to be when it's snowing hard or just too damn tired to drive. Answer: heck ya...you were right. I just rented black dog and that was a great movie...never thought I'd be so happy to see a 379 get beat to hell, but I really liked it. Thanks to all who helped...I'm dissapointed in that I call myself a trucker and did not even know the movie existed. I also tried to rent convoy....been a few years since I've seen it, but blockbuster does not even carry it.Live in St. Louis? Looking for concrete truck drivers....great pay and benifits...pm for details Answer: Now i got to rent it. I want to see a 379 smashed up. Answer: Don't waste your time. It ain't worth watching all the crap till the end. Black Dog rates right up there with Sly Stones arm wras'ln flick. Answer: I believe it was called over the top and yes it was horrible and Black Dog is crap too. But here are a few more "excellent" trucking movies you may (not) want to rent, Breaker! Breaker! (Chuck Norris), Citizens Band, Coast to Coast, of course the horrible classic Convoy, Deadhead Miles, Steven Spielbergs first full screen debut about a crazy truck driver (in which you never see) that wants to kill an ordinary man for no apparent reason "Duel", another Sly Stalone movie called F.I.S.T., Flatbed Annie & Sweetiepie, High Ballin', In Tandem, and the laughable Smokey and the Bandit 1, 2, & 3, Smokey and the hot wire gang, Sorcerer, Steel Cowboy, The Great Smokey Roadblock, The Wages of Fear, Truck Stop Women, They Drive By Night, and White Line Fever. So yea there are lots of great "trucking" movies out there, most of which were made in the 70's when trucking and CB's were "cool". Anything made now a days that involves trucking is still somewhat reminescent to 1973 as if the industry or the people haven't changed, the way other professions and industries are protrayed are a lot different now then say back in 1970, but I guess we should just let the stereotypes keep rolling its not hurting anybody right? Answer: Don't forget to avoid "Joy Ride"... although you never see the psycho trucker either -Charles Answer: I've spent the last 20 yrs or so collecting all the truck'n movies. I have most of them..but a few I don't. NONE of them are Oscar material, and should not be watched for their great acting abilities It's all about the TRUCKS!! Answer: What does the question mark mean? You aren't sure if Black Dog is good, or you're answer negatively to someone who said it wasn't a good movie? I'm still mulling over whether I should rent it or not. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
