Swift or England?
Question:
Well, Arrow Trucking turned me down due do one of my previous employers saying somthing negative about me. I applied at England a few weeks ago and the hired me right off the bat. My recruiter gave me my bus ticket conformation number and I am supposed to leave this Sunday for Salt Lake City, UT for orientation. I am also waiting to hear from Swift which has a dedicated route opening here in Phoenix that I really want. I will know tomorrow if I can get that job or not. This is the ONLY job I will take from Swift. I think? One more company I am waiting to hear from is DeBoer. They also have a nice looking dedicated route opening I am trying to get. So what should I do guys if I can't get the jobs I want with DeBoer or Swift? Should I just go with England just for the fact that it means I will have my foot in the door somewhere? Or would you guys take OTR with Swift over England? I freakin hate this crap! HELP! Answer: No England. No, no, no. Go with Swift, they won't be constantly brainwashing you into leasing a truck, and you'll be able to sleep at night without that horrific reefer buzzing behind you. They're huge, as long as you stay under the radar you'll be fine... just like any other job The bennies are probably better too. Answer: Of course they did. you are meat in the seat and very expendable. if absolutly no one but England would hire me I very honestly would go to work for walmart selling sporting goods. (it's the only area I might like). Considering a bit of your background you have told us I would also say go to Swift. They would be 100 times better than England. In your case with limited options they would even be a good choice for a place to start and get your foot in the door. Just remember, when they make it almost to easy you need to start wondering why. Answer: Swift or England.... hmmn.. well, would you rather drown or burn to death? Answer: Probaly drown...Seems like it would be alittle less painfull. Honestly, Thanks guys. I am glad I found this site. I am a good driver. I don't consider myself a "Rookie" or even a "Student. I know I don't have any OTR experience but I know how to drive a truck..and I think I do a hell of a job at it. I guess I will cancel out on England. Swift is based where I live anyways so maybe I can get home more often. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks again! Answer: Well I just heard back from the guy at Swift and I got hired for the dedicated run I wanted. I start my 2 day orientation Monday, finish it up on Tuesday and then on Wensday and Thursday I have a "Tie Down" class I have to take since I will be doing flatbed work. On Thursday evening or Friday morning I will leave with my Trainer for 2 weeks. I will show him the pro I am and the one he isn't...haha. Once I arrive back here in Phoenix from my training I will start to the dedicated run to New Mexico. I hope I like the job. I will pull a "stacked" flat bed (3 flatebeds on top of each other) to New Mexico, then bring a loaded one back. I make 3 1/2 turns a week and have weekends off. Is there ANY of this I should not believe? Please let me know so I can check on it. Thanks Answer: Good luck to you. Flat beds can be a great way to start. Just don't stop there. Answer: Could you please come back here after your tie down class, and let us know what they teach you over there, about cargo securement?.....I would be intrested in hearing about it...LIARS SUKK Answer: If you take the class from Ray at Phoenix, he is a good instructor and a good guy. Answer: Glad to hear that Swift is looking good for you I wouldn't get too excited about England by the looks of things they will hire anyone http://www.officer.com/article/article.jsp?site...on=1&id=24224 could they be the new Dick Simon? Answer: Teedub Sounds like you are gonna be haulin sheetrock!!??
