Greatly increase your enjoyment of Truck Net!
Question:
I modified a script for Firefox browsers that will let you block selected phpBB attention (edited). Once you turn them off, they can't come back... you don't even see them in quotes, their emoticons or avatars, and they can't PM you. It just shows a blank panel whenever they whine. Since blocking mindless drivel from the likes of Zigzag, Phil, Rabelam, and Stuffy, my enjoyment of this forum has increased ten-fold! Answer: Duplicate posts are a cry for attention from the mentally insecure. Answer: Um, Einstein... "blocking" means I can't see your reply. If anyone wants the filter, drop me a line and I'll send you instructions for activating it. For those like Rabelam who don't understand the concept... if I have you filtered already, I can't send you the script because you can't PM me. Otherwise, you'd be welcome to it. Answer: Answer: How were you able to reply back? DUH!!!! Big Answer: I love it when someone makes a total A$$ out of another dumb post! Answer: Easy. Here's what you see on the screen: The little "x" to the left of the names is the kill switch for that person. Obviously, I can see that someone on my blacklist whined about something, but the display just shows a blank panel. Therefore, if someone on the blacklist wants a copy of the script and tries to PM me for it, I won't know it because I can't see anything they write. Earlier, I had just blacklisted a handful of people, so I could tell from the serial numbers who was who... but I was spared their cry babying just the same. I couldn't tell one from the other now, which is even better. It'll take a little while to catch any aliases, but for all intents and purposes they're no longer a factor. Good riddance. Answer: Wow what a wonderful idea. Just remove post from everyone who disagrees with you. Blacklist them and get rid of them. That sounds really exciting and a great way to discuss NOTHING. The script is free on the web from many sources. It's been out a while. Not many people use it except those of limited ability to discuss anything. The other wonderful news in this case is he can't reply back to you either. So, by by Fatty. Answer: I'm pretty sure fatty is full of it. He claimed on the RT that he had been in this industry longer than zigzag and stuffs combined. I haven't bothered to search yet, but I am almost certain that he started the same time I did. I seem to remember him posting early on about going to orientation for USA Suck and being rejected for being overweight, so he went to work for the Red Menace. Answer: I think he is just getting past that point in his career that the rose colored glasses are coming, but still in denial that the job blows Answer: My my......the bullies sure get their panties in a wad when someone says he's not reading them anymore.... I think it's a great idea -- like call blocking, or no call lists, or pop-up filters -- sure to drive some folks in a frenzy of anxiety just to think their posts can be eliminated from the screens of more civil and serious users. Love it. Rose. Do you realize how many new members would post here if they could block posts from those they don't care to see on their screens? Seriously, this is a very practical service solution to the problem that most discourages serious folks from participating at trucknet -- a click-on filter that lets us choose which members we simply don't want to see on our individual screens.... Bet I'd be blocked some -- and that would be fine with me if someone doesn't like my style... Answer: Reading comprehension isn't your strong point, is it Werner? Answer: What do you mean? Precious little to do with agreeing or disagreeing. Just cutting the anti-discussion rhetoric that doesn't conrtibute anyway -- that's the problem. Like the comment, "Reading comprehension isn't your strong point, is it Werner?" Since that's the only kind of thing this poster ever writes to me (or anyone else for the most part), and has nothing to do with discussing anything at all, what's wrong with cutting that member from my reading list before it hits my screen? Let those who enjoy that type of "discussion" receive it if they want. I'd rather focus on discussing issues and concepts related to trucking most of the time. I don't need to read posters I have absolutely nothing in comon with professionally or personally. And again -- I'm sure some would feel the same way about me. This isn't censorship. It's choice. Answer: This is an ignore option Fatty Turnbuckle is offering to those interested. Of course, it's not so much what you say as how you say it. As a result, the spitting contests took no time at all in getting started. The idea of an "ignore" button has been brought from time to time. If the option would work for you, contact FT. If not, you have the option to "ignore." No need to get your feathers ruffled over it though. Answer: I don't have feathers. I think Shuffler does though. fatty certainly does because he's a little flighty. I also don't like spitting contest. Seen one once and those people got spit all over their chins. Even seen a female with spit on her shirt. It was nasty. I need a little help on how to say trucking sucks in a nice PC manner. I mean if I just say the job sucks and Werner screws it might be offensive. So how can I politely say Werner sucks and the job screws? Maybe Rose can help. Possibly make a list of PC ways to make your point and still feel the love. I need some pointers because i certainly wouldn't want Shuffly ignoring me.
