hey krammer
Question:
I was just wondering how things are going at swift for you, are you staying in the northeast or all 48? Are you making decent money/miles? Any insight would be great, I hope things are going great for ya, Big Dan Answer: I havnt logged any miles yet. I am waiting for a truck to become available. But, so far, so good. I dont see why people bust on swift so much. I guess its just there turn. Anyways, I went to there orientation which was basically pointless because all they covered was the usual welcome to the company crap. Plus some scare tactics on log violations, dot mobsters, etc....I carry a laptop with me so maybe I will check in every now and then once I get assigned a truck. Untill then..........by the way, they pay .36 cents per mile for the northeast regional with a minimum of 2100 miles per week. The car haulers make a decent chunk of change too. Answer: Hey where from upstate NY, Im from buffalo. mole Answer: Good to hear from ya and hope you get your truck soon, are you using the north syracuse terminal? I'm interested in them (swift) because of the terminal location and they supposedly have some dedicated routes that stay in NY that pay well. Do they haul the cars from canada or just from the states? I plan to just get my cdl through a local tech school here in south dakota while on terminal leave and keeping my part time job keeping the money flow as high as I can to build my cushion account until I can drive full time after we get back to NY. Mole I'm going to live in Constantia, NY on the north shore of Oneida lake, just north of syracuse if that helps. Kramer keep in touch, maybe we can grab some coffe sometime, if you or for that matter any other drivers want to have a cup and some good conversation when passing through south dakota, rapid city area fire me an email at "prodrvr03@yahoo.com" I check this account daily Answer: Big Dan SWIFT does not haul cars into or out of Canada, I see a lot of dryvans and a few flatbeds up in Ontario Canada but yet to see a SWIFT car hauler Answer: Big Dan. They have local jobs all over the place. Most get paid by the hour. Im not sure where the car haulers operate, or what states they drive in. Sounds like you got the right idea by getting your cdl yourself. You dont want to be in debt to any of these companies because they will use and abuse you. Call them and ask them to send you a application and it will have some info on the training they will put you through after you get your cdl. I think its like 4 weeks with a trainer then 4 weeks with another driver, or somethin like that. I dont know for sure because I slept threw that part of orientation.
