Thinking of starting your trucking career with SWIFT? READ
Question:
For a good SCREWING! Read my reply to this post! That should tell you to stay away! Answer: Hoss, have you ever worked for Swift? If so then preach on, if not then quit talking chit. Answer: Nope! Never worked for 'em and NEVER WILL! That guy blew so much smoke up my azz when I had him on the phone, it wasn't even funny! When I asked him some questions, he IMMEDIATELY started tap dancing in the opposite direction! To make such outragous claims that a company driver (especially a Swift driver) can make $85K a year, is PURE 100% BS! I wonder how that guy can sleep at night. Swift DOES NOT pay THAT GOOD! From your post in this thread, I see that you're on your way to the big bucks. click here Answer: Nah, no big bucks for me. Im going to bank at least half of each paycheck for a year, then stop driving and get a real job. Answer: At least you dream big. Answer: Hoss, say what you want. It won't matter to most. Some companies have such a bad reputation that people that know nothing about trucking know about them. Yet lots of people sign on the dotted line believing their hype. There have been list and list on certain companies pointing out all their bad points, some have many. Yet someone will say they can live with it or it's acceptable. Some even defend the company while pointing out their many faults. Seems strange these people will accept it and sign right up. All I can say is better them than me. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: I havnt signed a single dotted line so I dont know where you get that from. Answer: He's talking about the line at the bottom of the contract that most unsuspecting newbies sign, saying that they promise to reemburse Swift for teaching them how to drive a big truck. Answer: Really, you haven't signed one piece of paper. Things like your app, medical, hazmat forms, training packet, insurance, absolutely nothing? Big companies have so many forms a new driver has to sign it's almost rediculous. But you haven't signed a one? "have you ever worked for Swift? If so then preach on, if not then quit talking chit" I think that applies. Being in orientation does not give a person experience. If in 6 months you are still happy, and you very well may be. Please do share it with all. It is always good to hear from drivers with hands on experience. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: The only thing I signed was the usual crap. There is no form to sign your soul away. I can turn everything in and leave anytime I want if I choose. Answer: posted November 12, 2002 16:32 By Kramer; "After 2 months of sitting on my butt I have chosen to go drive for Swift. 3 days of orientation then they give me a truck and Im on my way. I will give them about 6 months and if the myths about them come true then I guess I will have to leave and see if the grass is greener elsewhere." " I can turn everything in and leave anytime I want if I choose." Of course you signed papers, every one does. Unfortunatly it's thinking like the two statements above that are the problem. Ever hear of DAC. By not making a well informed decision and accepting a job although you know it may not be a good idea can ruin you. Too many newbies have all but ruined their driving careers by job hopping. Why not go to the best company you possibly can to start with? Why go somewhere thinking you'll just pack up and leave if "the myths about them come true" . It really doesn't make sense. It really isn't smart. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: Explain to me how turning in your equipment and moving on is going to give you a bad dac? This is my 3rd company in 2 years and my dac is clean. If you act like an azz and leave on bad terms ( abandon the truck, tell everyone to go to hell, etc..) then of course your dac will say bad things. Quit exaggerating the truth. Some of you guys just didnt like to drive, which is fine. But dont try and blow smoke to scare the new people. Too many friggen crybabies these days Answer: I happen to be a OTR driver and I like my job very much. I also happen to make alot more money than you ever will at Swift. You should know who your commenting to before you open your mouth and look really stupid. You may be right about DAC. Your application would say enough. Work History = Unstable. Yep you'll sure get the good jobs that way. You are smart. "This is my 3rd company in 2 years ", really? ---- posted November 13, 2002 18:30 By Kramer; "Big Dan, I am starting at .29 a mile. I have been driving for a year or so" Would you mind keeping your stories straight. Most likely your 3rd job in "a year or so" Darn It, found another one. posted November 14, 2002 17:24 "My father has been driver for 26 years, my brother 5 years, and myself about 1 year." I hate it when that happens. Thank you for explaining why you had to sit around waiting for a job and Swift is your only offer. Please do keep rambling because it is quite funny. Well, I dunno. I happen to have a pretty good friend that used to drive for Swift. He's a pretty calm, cool and collected guy. I've never heard him raise his voice or cuss someone out. When he left Swift, there were suddenly 3 NOT previously reported 'preventable accidents' on his DAC Report! (<-------read FAKE!) He never acted like an azz, abandoned a trailer or anything that would 'normally' be considered grounds for firing a person or terminating a contract. He wasn't happy where he was at and the circumstances that built up over the last few months he was there, so he turned in his termination notice.......I think he said 3 weeks prior to quitting. He checked his DAC just before quitting, it was clean! Upon hiring on with the new company (pre-employment check was spotless), all of a sudden, there were 3 'new' incidents. Just something to think about. I wish you all the luck in the world, but when Swift screws you hard enough, I don't want to hear you whining that you were 'never warned!' BOL and make sure you pack the vaseline. Answer: Thats 2 years on and off smartguy. Some of you people are so dam retarded. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
