Parking your rig
Question:
I am about to go to work for Roehl, and if they want me after the training period, I will need to find a place to park my rig. I live in Wichita, Ks., naturally would like to find a place to park for free. The man who interviewed me told me I needed to find a place to park, not on the street, and that the rig and trailer weren't to be seperated without prior approval from someone at Roehl. He did not say anything about it being a secured location, though I have read that is what Roehl wants. I've looked on the internet trying to find places to park a rig, with no luck, and left some notes on trucks I saw parked at a Mall, asking who, what, expense, but no one has replied.
If anyone is a driver where I live, could you give me some tips on how to find a spot, or if you know of one how I can contact them. For those fellow Scotsman type Roehl drivers who have gotten Roehl to pay for a secured area, how do I go about doing this?
Looking forward to joining Roehl, found out they do participate in the Truck driving championship, so if you know where I can get information to prepare for competing in this let me know, since one of my goals is to win this. I know it will be down the road due to clean driving miles required, but there should be other things I could study, and find out about to prepare for that day.
Thanks for the help. Work hard play hard and do your best

Answer:
I235 XT4 (West St) Kum and Go I asked the manager, was told no problem.
I135 XT14 (?) Truckstop, sign says "no" but again talk to the manager, they will have you sign a paper saying they are not responsible and away you go!
The old Builders Square on East Kellogg, I've seen a Roehl truck parked (must be dedicated) might try and catch him, parks on the west side.
47th and S Broadway, the old TG&Y behind the Burger King, not sure about it, but have seen several tractor/trailers........ and or just trailers
Where ae they sending you for training?
Did you go van or skateboard?

Answer:
Ahhh...the memories!
I had the same problem with Roehl. They're pretty anal about securing that truck when you're off duty. And I really don't blame them - it's good business. But it can be a hassle for the driver.
A funny story is that my girlfriend is a nanny for one of the richest guys in the state. For some reason, the guy was really interested in trucks and wanted to meet me. He had this lot in the back of his house and asked my girl if I would drive back there one day so he could check out my rig. I thought it was a bit odd, but what the hell?
So one day I pull into this dude's house and no joke it's like something out of Miami Vice. It's huge! The driveway was damn near 3 lanes wide and inside there's a handball court, a basketball court, a game room, a pool, and and elevator. Yeah, that's right, a (edited) elevator!!
I'm like wtf? But the guy was really cool and we hit it off pretty good. We drank some Johhnie Walker (my favorite - anything else is just uncivilized ) and he said he wanted to sell his house and buy a log cabin and live out in the woods. Loco!!!
Anyways, the lot was pretty big and I ask if I can park there during my offtime. He said no problem. It was perfect because my girl could drive me home and we would only have to use her car. Besides, the guy was hardly ever there because he flew all over the place.
First night I park there, Roehl got about 20 pissed off calls from snobby rich folks. And they even got a call from the mayor himself!!!!
Finally, they arranged a place at a customer where they had a drop-n-hook deal going. That's the best thing to do. Call up your FM and ask if there's any customers like Excel Logistics, Georgia Pacific, Target DC's, Walmart DC's, etc where you can drop an empty on your way home and park your bobtail. There's probably something where you live.
Best o' luck to ya'!
