question about us express pay
Question:
I was looking at this page http://www.xpressdrivers.com/solos.html and if you look at the pay scale it has rate per miles driven and shows a mileage at the top. Then just below it shows a mileage rate for the miles. Now it has 0-300 , 301- 600 , 601-900 , 900+
My qestion is is that a per day or per week. If you are only driving 300 per week that would realy suck . I tried to call them but there closed until tomorrow morning.
Thanks

Answer:
I am guessing that is per trip. Generally, on a graduated pay scale, a shorter trip will pay more than a longer trip.
When you talk to them, I would ask what their average length of haul is. That would give you a better idea as to what you can expect to get paid.
Also, ask if they factor in deadhead miles in their total trip miles. If they do, it may bump you up into a lower pay bracket. (which would really suck if they don't pay the same rate for deadhead).

Answer:
I woukd agree with revvassago. Alot of companies pay a higher rate for shorter runs. With the thought the rate will justify the low miles. Then they'll cut the rate on longer runs with the thought more miles equal more money.

Answer:
It's per trip.
Stuffy, you really have no clue. I'm beginning to wonder if you really are a driver or just someone who likes to throw bombs. USX just instituted HIGHER rates for short runs when the new HOS began, to keep everyone's pay more consistent, so it was a RAISE, you imbecile. The company is also favoring regional operation to get drivers home weekly, since, evidently, that's what the majority of drivers want. You can't be at home and get high miles.
You shouldn't need this explained to you. But, like I say, you're probably an armchair driver, with your Dale Earnhardt CB plugged in next to the TV remote. How the hell'd you get my password?
Answer:

Speaking of imbeciles, maybe your reading comprehension needs some tweaking. The "they'll" referred to Carriers in general, not USX specificly.
Higher pay has always been paid for short runs with the idea it keeps wages
comparable as compared to consistant.
Answer:
Fatty you have never shown to be very bright.
I believe that would mean companies pay more for shorter runs? Nice to see USeless Xpress finally caught up and is doing what others have been doing for a long time.
That is exactly right.
I've had companies pay a flat rate on short hauls fro $50. to $150. To them it justified running short loads and looked good on paper. To me they were a waste of time and the work for the pay didn't come close to justifiable.
Companies that specialize in short to medium hauls (the majority) have it down to a science. With the day being 14 hours long a driver can do both drop&hooks or unload freight and still have the hours to get more miles. With a company I was assigned to I could average 500 miles a day and make 2-4 drops, It was all short haul work and all paid a few more pennies per mile.
The new HOS affects local drivers alot more than it does the OTR crowd. Most OTR drivers love it. Most local drivers know their day is going to be 14 hours long.

Answer:
What I like about USxpress is after a year you get 250 dollars for one week vacation to spend anyway you wish as long as it's legal.

Answer:

I suppose your two month OTR resume makes you the expert?
You failed at OTR and your barely intelligent half witted insults are on the same road.

lets say everyday you do a 400 mile run and get 2800 miles for the week @37cpm= $1036
or you do one 2800 mile load $896
$140 more dollars for making 12 more stops in a week or $11.66 per stop
If they where all drop & hook,no sliding axles or having to weigh them and no 22 steps at the shipper or reciever to check in,find somebody to sign bills and all sorts of other nonsense and no hunting empties it would almost be acceptable, but that is a fantasy to expect anything like that to happen.
touch 7 trailers in a week and at least one will be in need of repair
the real kicker is most likely you would get less miles for the week doing short ones and just work more for less money, than if you did 3 loads in the 900+ mile range and most likely they add the deadhead on to bump as many as they can into the next catagory
Answer:
know it is the 3 yrs otr that I did yrs ago when you were still a wet spot in your dads shorts. As for failing I did not fail I just do not think working long hrs for the pay you get is worth it .The class of emplyers has gone down the wrong road.not all the companies out there are bad but the fact is there are alot more bad ones than good ones. This forum does give good info sometimes but there are some in this forum that do not not know what the heck they are talking about . there are some that are to fast at the lips to cut someone down . If I am so far off base then just go back threw the many post ,the words say it all.I my self got a bunch of smart (edited) coments thrown at me for just stating the facts about usx and what they did to me in my case. I did not start posting on here to send falls messages or to start problems all I wanted to do was to share what happend to my self so someone would not make the same mistake I made and as luck would have it all I got for that was insults from the know it all group so take it from there your posts and posts of others like your self back up what I am saying . Have a good life !
