Question:
Just something to consider BEFORE you make the plunge into the"lifestyle". http://trucknet.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=475098473&f=452094104&m=7723036886 I'm posting this to show it's important to consider ALL the aspects of "trucking". Mike Answer: My man got more than he could chew. He did'nt know how bad he was gonna miss home. He is gonna stick it out though. But someone needs to really realize it's a hard job very lonely-especially if you have family at home. mom of two wife to one jenna Answer: Yeah...I really am sorry he is going through this. Im a newbie but there is no way in heck that I would consider trucking if I had a family or was going too. Keep looking in the paper for him on other oppurtunities. Have a great Day Answer: Its all about adjusting to the lifestyle. Married people with spouses in the military sometimes celabrate the holidays, or birthdays on the days when everyone is around. Its all about adjusting. At least truckers have the opportunity to just up and quit and go home. Theres always other jobs out there that can pay the bills. Besides, 6 months, or even a year isnt that long when you think about it. Just take it one day at a time and look to what the future holds. Dont get caught up in feeling sorry for yourself because thats just a waste of time. Look to the future and see how happy you will be when that 6 months or year is done and your working a local truckin job. I will say this, there really is no reason to go otr if you wanna drive local. Beverage companies, foodservice, beer delivery, those are all usually local or overnight runs. Alot of experience guys stay away from it because you have to unload everything by hand, so it leaves the jobs for rookies Answer: There is a 60% divorce rate in this country. Maybe married couples need some time apart Charles Answer: Kramer, your absolutley right. Im glad there are people that want to let us wannabes know that its a hard way of life. but I can only speak for myself when I say I have been gone for 6 months at a time, (not recently) it was hard, no doubt, that was back when we didn't have e-mail and cell phones and you could only call home when you pulled into port. no doubt its hard, but. I think I could handle it for a couple weeks. Dont take this wrong, I appreciate, as im sure all the wannabes do all the information. Ike Answer: I have now been driving for just over 6 months. I stay out about three weeks at a time because it is important to get caught up. We were not behind in our bills but we did accumulate a few more while i was going to the company sponsored school I attended. I love my wife to the point that many would think I am living in a fantasy. We have been together for about 21 years now and there are still love songs that will bring tears to my eyes while I am driving. I also have found that I love my job. I can't convince my wife to team with me so we have set a goal. After my year as an indentured servant is up and my obligation to the company I drive for is up, we will THEN put things in order and make some decisions. I am completely satisfied with the company that I drive for, but then I did do a lot of research before I made my decision. My plan at this point is to see what my present company can do for me as far as more hometime... I do believe that I'll be able to hang with them, but time will tell. Until then I will pay my dues and "keep on keepin' on". Some people find fault as if it were buried treasure. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
