Answer:
Since when is NEMF a union carrier?? They're certainly not Teamsters...I suppose maybe one of those wannabe unions...Old Man Shevell would would have to give up his high-rise Manhattan apartment if the Teamsters got a hold of him!

Answer:

Someone may know better than I, but I heard that they are/were part of the Bakers and Confectioners union. If that is true, I can't figure out why. What would a Baker's union have to do with trucking?

Answer:
I don't know NEMF's union affiliation. I am thinking they were advertising starting pay for line haul at around .37/mile a while back. If so, that would explain the need for starting their own training program.
Regardless, for some, it may be a foot into the LTL door and/or trucking.

Answer:
i was with NEMF for a few months. It was one of the best gigs i had averaging $650 -$750 per week. Did not touch Bo Diddley. Just driving. 100% drop and hook. Home every day and weekends off I may go back to them.
The union was NJ steamfitters.(i think)
OK equipment too. Another interesting thing is that they use mostly 53' vans for linehaul whereas most LTLers use doubles. So no hassles with hooking up doubles.
