Hello everybody, haven't been here in awhile was looking for some help finding a new carrier.
If anyone has anything to say good or bad on these few companies am considering I would be very appreciative:
Smith Transport
Witte Brothers Exchange
Baylor Trucking
Total Transportation
Gainey Transportation
Hogan
Jevic
New Century
Calark
Basically what comes down to is I want to run and have good benefits. I make .40cpm now but at about 2,300 miles per week and home every other weekend (which is longest am willing to stay out). Another main thing is I have big family so benefits are just as important to me. My wife is legally blind and unable to work so I need to get where I can make good money at a reputable carrier.

Are you a Solo Drvr making .40cpm or are you a TEAM drvr Splitting .40cpm?
How much Experience do you have?
The reason I ask is b/c...off the top of my head, I can't think of many(if any) carriers that pay SOLO drvrs too much more than .40cpm AND give them more than 3,000 mpw AND have bennies.
JB Hunt, is one that comes to mind.
Besides....the key is to Work SMARTER...Not Harder.
If I'm not mistaken, you're currently making over $900/wk....that's not too bad.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that those companies do Not exist, I'm just saying that I don't know of any.(if you find one, please let me know....thanx.)

yes am a solo driver making .40 cpm at Shaffer, but i still say 2,300 ave. miles per week is too low when you are home only every other weekend.
$900 might not sound that bad but thats gross pay....i know there are other companies that can gross well over $1000 per week, plus the main reason i'm planning on changing is the benefits are poor here.
J.B. you said??? i thought they cut their mileage pay back i used to work there making .37 and ive never heard of a jb driver getting 3000 miles per week average ???

Off your list I would say Jevic. I would also consider JB. They raised their pay again. My solo adverage was about 2780.

I never worked for Crete, but have spoke with many drivers. They seem to like it.
Also, JB lost a ton of the old .41 milers to Crete over not getting 3k a week.
I almost went, but had to weight what I had and would have to work back to get if I moved companies.

why would i switch to crete....yes they are the same company, which means the ave. miles, pay per mile and benefits are the exact same
the very reason thinking of moving on.....but thanks for other suggestions so far, you know i worked for j.b. before when they still had cabover flatfloors and paid .38 per mile but i couldnt get any miles.....
ill have to talk to a few drivers (think i can find some ) and see what the ave miles are really at now.I'm in love with my sweet angel Cindy !!!!!

I would say the adverage miles should be better at crete. One it is dry van.

Well, they might have better miles at Crete but from what I heard about the same. Problem is they don't have a division like here so I would have to stay out 3 weeks there and thats too long away from home.
At Witte if I go there it is 16 days which is a little stretch but then you get 4 days off in a row.
I will re-check also at J.B. as you said maybe that could work as well will have to see.I'm in love with my sweet angel Cindy !!!!!
