A TRUCKING SCHOOL TO ABSOLUTELY AVOID......
Question:
TO: Future Truckers of America
Subj: Trucking schools to avoid.
Happened to see that the lousy Trucking School that I attended
2 years ago is still in operation. I am amazed because when
I was there the trucks were ALL broken down, some very bad
instructors, and they wouldn't have any business if they weren't
next to the Swift Terminal in Lewiston, Idaho. ( a great blue
collar town, with a very, very bad smelling pulp mill).
The so called school is funded by the State or County, and it
is obvious that the school is on a shoe string budget with
all very old equipment..
Almost any school would be better than LEWIS AND CLARK STATE
COLLEGE's Trucking school, in Lewiston, Idaho.

Answer:
DO NOT avoid Des Moines Area Community College Transportation Institute....they are 3rd best truck driving school in the nation according to PTDI. I'm attending now and them guys know their stuff and know how to teach!
Answer:
DMACC 3rd best?
Wonder who they paid off to get that rating.
While I haven't dealt with them lately, we always considered anyone coming out of there as totally "green."
In other words....they did a totally ---- poor job of teaching. One of their instructors was on TV once, touting the school.
About fell over laughing. This so-called instructor had been fired from the company I drove for after her fifth accident in six months. The incident that finally got her fired caused over a quarter million dollars damage to a grain elevator due to driver negligence.
DMACC snapped her right up. Guess she met their rigid standards

Answer:
No women teach at DMACC.
Answer:
Then perhaps she either quit or got fired.
Still doesn't change my opinion of DMACC.
We hired very few students out of school and DMACC was removed from our list due to the pizzpoor quality of their "graduates".

Answer:
Sounds like you got the wrong school man. How can you say they are horrible when they have one of the best ratings by PTDI's standards. Or does your company view PTDI as "green" as well?
Now ya got me wondering what company you drive for.
Answer:
Why are they screwed up, in your opinion? BOL

Answer:
I think he is just disgruntled.
Answer:
Have you looked at DDS in Sun Prairies equipment? They use junk mostly. I've known a couple of people that went there and they only got a few hours of road time for the 4 or 5 thousand they charge for school. It's a CDL MILL 100%.
Now go to Fox Valley tech or Chippewa Valley and look at their programs you'll pay less than half of DDS and be recognized by the better carriers as well. You can also check out Roehls school as I'm sure they are classier than Sun Prairie.

Answer:
I'm not "disgruntled", whatever you may mean by that.
You seem highly enamored of DMACC. That's your privilege. By the way I'm not confused about the school referred to as there is only one in the state.
The two statements I made about the school are correct.
The reason we dropped them was because too many of their students couldn't perform a proper pre=trip or pass our driving tests.
Oh, when you report this to your teachers, tell them if they are too thin skinned to stand critiscism to stick to watching Spongebob Squarepants rather than frequenting trucker BBS.
I don't get into E mail fights with moe-rons.

Answer:
The Sage school in Muncie, Indiana is also a bad driving school. The director of the school runs it as a mill. Once the student has paid their money, they could care less if you pass or not. Also they have equipment that is unsafe to operate.
The equipment has failed several annual DOT inspections, and they just simply, take the equipment to another inspection site, where the shop either is not qualified to do inspections or they just have a disregard for the saftey inspection regulations.
Finally all the driving schools in Indiana other then Sage, will test a student several times till they pass their state skills test. Not Sage, one test is all you get, and if you can't pass, well to bad they have your money, Good bye it's been nice knowing you.
Catch you on the flip!

Answer:
If a student cannot perform the proper pretrip, then they shouldn't be able to get their CDL to begin with. Soooo, somewhere down the line those students that went to your company were able to perform a proper pretrip. However, what you guys do for your driving test is your own deal.
U may not think the school is qualified, but I'm pretty sure it takes something to get high up on the PTDI totem pole.
I feel that the students, most of them, are qualified to drive a truck when they graduate. You have you opinion to see otherwise.
Answer:

.
After graduation, the pre-trip consists of opening and closing the door.
If the truck cranks up ....hall azz.
