Ladymacquiver and Lonewolf
Question:
Since both of you have experience with Midwest Coast Transport and after looking up past post concerning them, I ran across something that Ladymacquiver posted on December 13, 2003 in the professional womens forum under the topic need and unbiased opinion.
She said that there were O/O that leased through MCT that were okay and some she wouldn't recommend. So who would be the best ones to work for and the ones to stay away from that use MCTs' services.
Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Answer:
i can't make any comments about how any of the other o/o are that are leased on to mct,i can only comment on the one i work for,he's a good man to work for,he likes to keep his truck's moving, but he also understands that drivers need time off as well,he keeps his trucks legal and in pretty good shape,he's not to keen in putting more money than he has to into his trucks,so breakdowns are handle accordingly,if you can make it back to the yard so his mechanics can perform the repairs,he prefers that, but if the truck can't make it back, then so be it.
If you want to find out about how the o/o from mct are,i suggest that you talk to various drivers and form your own opinion on the company,my only beef with mct is the way they pay, other than that,i have no problem with them

Answer:
Normally what companies do that runs Owner/Operators, and Leased Fleets; they will run through all the background checks and other "pre-hire" tasks. Make sure you are qualified and lagit---then give you a list of Owners closest to your area and let you talk directly to them.
The Owners will let you know what they offer and expect, and then you decide who you like best.
You then agree to drive for one of them, and then the Owner will contact the company with their intrest to hire.
The company then brings you to orientation, and tells you what they expect.
It is up to the Owner to decide where the truck will be at the end of orientation (ie. in the yard, at his/her house etc...).It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves.

Answer:
That could be interesting cause I live along the I 90 corridor pretty close to the Missouri river. I wonder who would be out here that would contract with MCT. I did talk to one of their recruiters roughly a month ago and they were a bit baffled on who would be out this way as well. But, I am within 120 miles of the MCT terminal in Sioux Falls and there is another MCT driver that lives not far from me so that may not be much of an obstacle.

Answer:
i'm trying to think,i know there used to be a fleet right there in sioux falls, but i believe they moved,so i dunno who would be close to where you live, the recruiter would know more on that part than i do

Answer:
Bob Olson is out of Sioux Falls. Had friends that worked for him before buying their own truck. Said he was great to work for.
As was stated earlier, there are some owners you would be wise to stay away from.
Answer:

Should'nt have much of a problem.
There could be Owners that live in Tuttle, OK., but have no reason to get their truck through Tuttle if they have the services done at the terminal or on the road.
If they leave the majority of their operations up to MCT, you are in a perfect spot to get home etc...
MCT run that I-90 corridore all the time, and you couldn't (in my opinion) live in a better spot.
Only down side I've dealt with is taxes. See, the company will pay the "truck". The truck belongs to a guy in, say, Georgia. The guy then pays you and takes out taxes in Georgia. You then must file your return with the state of Georgia (as well as) your home state----and filing taxes out of state can run into some coin.
(ask about this on the TAX Forum if you'd like).
Don't let that be a factor though; it's not that big of a deal. It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves.
