Question:
The company I drive for does not allow us to have inverters that are wired in and only allow plug in inverters. Our company also has optimized idle on the trucks. My question is there anyway for me to use my Playstation 2 without it turning off mid game when the truck starts up. I have an inverter I use for my laptop with no problems but it is only 300 watts with 125 continuous. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Get yourself a UPS. Uninteruptible Power Supply. It will stop any power interuptions, and will "condition" your power. Run the laptop off the UPS also. It is nothing more than a battery backup, but it keeps any power spikes and brown-outs from damaging your electronics.

You cannot plug a UPS into an inverter, it will not work.
The UPS requires a sine wave input, if it does not detect one, it will go into battery mode. Most inverters put out what is called a stepped sine wave, it is not the same as a true sine wave. So when you plug your UPS into the inverter, is will not see a true sine wave and go into battery mode.
I did run across a battery backup inverter that plugged into a cigarette lighter and it had the ability to supply power for a short time period, such as when starting the engine. It had its own built in battery.
I tried to find the battery backup inverter, again but I could not locate it. I think I saw it at a T/A???

Yeah i realized the UPS won't work. So if i get the true sine wave inverter that will do it right. Everything works fine until the truck starts up and everythings cuts off for a second and i lose what i was doing. Is there anywhere to buy a true sine wave inverter like maybe Radio Shack or another store or can I only buy this online. Thanks for the info.
