Business Plan for F-650 Dump Truck
Question:
Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I recently checked on a 2005 F-650 XLT SuperCab that is equipped with a 260 HP Cummins ISB w/engine brake, Allison Automatic transmission, air brakes, and a 10' dump bed. A navigation system would need to be added to the truck, for location of customers. No CDL's required for the truck.
How would an entrpreneur go about calculating a business plan for a truck like that, and what kind of a "cash flow" would you have? I know that location, population, demographics, and supply and demand can all be factors into the business plan.
Any insight, philosphies, or stories will be appreciated.

Answer:
hate to burst your bubble d00d, but having been a part of the dirt buisness for a long time I will tell you a few things.
The money you will put out for that truck, you can buy yourself a nice quad-axle dumptruck, less than 10 years old. You WILL need a CDL for it, but only a class B. You wont be able to haul enough in that single axle to make it worth the money. Honestly. Goto www.trucktraderonline.com or www.truckpaper.com or any other source of used class 8 trucks. I know of a few that could be had for less than 40, if thats what you want to do.

Answer:
If I decide to get the truck, I thought that I would use the truck for more than just hauling, some other things that I could use the truck for are going to the grocery store and to Church on Sunday. And to haul my wife and children in, once I get married.
Just an idea, didn't say that I was going to buy a new, just checking.
Thank you for the reply.

Answer:
Get a tandam dump truck with a high gate.
You can haul rock, sand, dirt and demo waste. No ashpault. You will need a bed liner for that.
Run the truck for folks that want rock. Find local quarries. Sand barges and landscape rock suppliers. You can earn $50.00 a hour easy.202 N Main Street

I dont know much about the dirt business or mean to be cruel but seriously, go to the grocery store? drive the wife and kids around? go to church? are you serious is this a joke? Please don't embarass your kids like that especially when they grow up Have fun good luck and stay safe out there

Answer:
I wouldn't bother messing around with a small truck like that, you can prolly buy a good used tandem or triaxle dumptruck for the same price as that f-650.
You will get alot more work, and the truck is built alot tougher.

Answer:

Why didn`t you say that you were going to make a garbage truck out of it , there is good money in that.
Answer:
All jokes aside , there is a guy living a few miles from me that has the F650 setup like you noted.
He makes good $ hauling SMALL LOADS to home owners in town that do not need 20YARDS of top soil and the BIG DUMP TRUCK guys do not want to service.
Other than doing that type of work , I go along with the others go buy a REAL dump truck and get a nice pickup / suv for the FAMILY hauling
