Parking
Question:
Just out of school and sending applications out to different companies. I was told some companies let you take the truck home. I can’t really to that. Could I leave the car at the terminal when on the road and leave the truck there when I go home? Or how’s that work?
P.s Any good companies in NJ?

Answer:
Most companies want you to leave truck at terminal, when your home. But some will let you take them home. I am having trouble finding companies that will let me take truck home, I'm not leaving my own vehicle sitting in some yard when I'm gone, someone might mess with it

Answer:
It depends on the company and how close you live to a terminal.
Most OTR companies will let you take the truck home with you assuming that you have some place to park it. If you have to park the truck or drop the trailer somewhere other than the house or the company terminal you need to get permission from your company as well as the property owner.
Answer:
Every company I have ever driven for has let the driver take the truck home. Heartland Express won't let you unhook from the trailer though for some stupid reason, so that makes parking at home more tricky....
Answer:

That's what I usually do. Of course, I've got a beat-up old pickup truck; I'm not sure that I'd want to leave a 'nice' vehicle at the terminal.
Leaving the big truck at the terminal will also (sometimes, maybe, if you're lucky) allow you to get things fixed on the truck while you're at home.

Answer:
Here's how mine works. I live 350 miles from a terminal, so I take the truck home everytime. I live downtown, however, so I either have to park it at the TS, or in an abandoned shopping center lot (along with 4 or 5 other drivers), even though I am bobtail. I can leave my personal vehicle at the shopping center, or my wife takes me. If I park it at the truck stop, I have to get a lift, since I can't leave my pickup truck there.
Also, I live less than a mile from a Freightliner dealer, so repairs on hometime work out great.
