Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

I dont normaly post here, but this is MY opinion. The truth,
Question:
I used to frequent this board, posted here numerous times under a different name. What happened to the old name? It was lost in the shuffle durring one of the board swaps, I am not a troll.
When I started posting here, I too wore rose colored glasses. Guess what people, the shine wears off after you get a job and are thrown into the mess that is trucking.
All people are trying to do is educate you. They are giving you both their opinion, and many facts that no one is honest with you about. Both you should take into serious consideration, and I mean that.
You have dispatchers who have no more knowledge of trucking than my dog, telling you how you should do your job. These people have never been in a truck in most cases, and only a handfull have actually seen one. I fantasize about throwing mine out of the window while driving down the road these days.
You have terminal managers. There is a different breed of d00d right there. Most, but not all, used to be drivers, and for one reason or another can no longer drive. They blow smoke up your, fill in the blank here, and tell you how they used to do it, and of course you have more than plenty time to do it, they used to do it all the time. Mine has me on the verge of quitting on a dailly basis.
Then you have the CB. I havent turned mine on for more than 5 mins total in a day for 5 months. What are you worried about? Why do you NEED to know if a scale is open, you have to go through it anyway right? And do yourself a favor, dont buy a mic that makes you sound like you have a pound of soft schitt in your mouth. They are stupid, and make you sound as such. I could go on about CB's and how dumb they are, along with many users, but I will let that one die.
Take a shower people. It's that simple. You fuel every day, or every other day, wash your azz, you stink. Terrible hygine leads to many negative habits, and laziness is one of them. Someone who takes care of themselves takes care of the truck, and keeps logs up to date and current, and is less likley to get stoped for something stupid as a result.
dont speed. That one is simple. I got a ticket in my 4 wheeler day after x-mas this year, on the 894 loop in Miluakee, WI. This gets expensive. including the fine it will end up costing me at least $600, I could do alot with $600. Oh well
There are people here, and all have a great deal of knowledge of this industry.
People that are pro-union, and those that are against it. They all know more than you, so do yourself a favor and listen. Even if its not what you want to hear, 90% of the time its true.
Living in a truck isnt for everyone, and nothing like driving a 4 wheeler.
I am a local driver. I do LTL (less than truckload), Pickup and delivery, in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. Every day. Well, Monday through Friday anyhow.
There are options for you in the local sector as a newbie, look at them and if offered one of those positions, take it. You will do alot of BS work for a year or so, but take it. You will have dollar signs in your eyes, but this is the truth, living on the road costs more than the difference in pay. Especially when you make your dispatcher mad, or if they are having a bad day already.
Not all the people on this board know how to express themselves, but take their word for it, they KNOW what they are talking about.
If you have any questions about what I mean, or if you want to know my old posting name, PM me and I will answer your questions. I am not a recruiter, I wont get money telling you what company to drive for, and will not tell you what company I drive for. I am offering you a realistic opinion.
Dont think I am real? Look for a d00d named sixthwheel, of a fella named Hoss. They will verify I am a breathing human being.

Answer:

I'll verify the part about breathing. Asphalt Hauler can breathe through his ears while downing a beer.
But a human being?

Answer:
1210 Posts and you say you were an occasional poster

Answer:
He didn't say "occassional poster", he said he doesn't post here (Newbies Forum) normally.
Read what someone writes, not what you think they wrote.

Answer:
I took "THIS BOARD " as TRUCKNET not just the NEWBIE forum but since he has 102 POSTS on the NEWBIE forum as ASHPALT HAULER I d say he is a occassional poster not 1 who never posts on this forum so BUZZZZZZZZZZZ the HE##### off OK

Answer:
Canman, you seriously need a hoby fella. You over think and over analyze things imensly, and its annoying. I put this post here not for you, but for new people who have their heads in the clouds. People who see trucking as some joyride, a paid vacation if you will.
Trucking, as you know, has a set of harsh realities that new people are too blind to see. I was the same way when I was new, and I am just offering up a sound peice of advice. Wuzzy gets it. This isnt going to be/supposed to be all about anyone in general, rather everyone as a group.
There have been people who have experienced the things associated with what I speak. Go find Lori, and ask her how things differed where it applies to what was advertised and what the reality is. Her and I dont really get along, but she did have a valid point. What she did is see trucking for what it really is, and decided it wasnt for her for numerous reasons, and although I will never tell her this I think she made a great decision for her based on reallity.
Trucking is nothing like driving a motorhome though the interstate roadway systems throughout this country. It is nothing like driving a u-haul around, with or without a trailer.
Trucking is hard, albeit more mentaly difficult than anything.
If you have some real world difficulties, thoughts, and concerns to share with new people, please do. If you dont, however, I would ask that you would refrain from posting in this thread because of a strong lack of usefullness. I didnt come here and put this here because I wanted to start anything with you. I put this here as a reality check. I do, however, think its great that you spent so much time searching out exactly who I am and what I have done. I am flatered.
WUZZY/CHARLIE, thank you for seeing what this really is, and for trying to decifer this for someone who wears blinders.
Hoss, I will repeat that trick next time you are over. When is that again?

Answer:
Asphalt Hauler
CAN MAN might need a HOBBY not a hoby .
He did not DISPUTE anything you posted now did he just that you had posted on here ( NEWBIE FORUM ) quite a few times thats all. so where does the BLINDERS comment come from
No doudt his searching out about you was 1 ) the # of posts under your avitar next to the post and 2) takes a few seconds to find the # of posts you have in any forum .

Answer:
sorry d00d, I didnt live up to your spelling expectations. Give me a break. I write quickly when I am wound up about something, and when I feel compelled to help someone. I dont use spellcheckers, I dont care how my lack of spelling ability affects you, weather directly or indirectly.
mabe canman does need a hoby. Who knows, alas, you are correct, it is spelled hobby.
I never used the word dispute anywhere in my post, I kow that becuse I just re-read it. He is trying to be a big-goy know it all :::::beep:::::
I made this post because I was compelled to do something usefull for people. I have no idea why, mabe its because I have seen too many trashy grubby truckers latley. Who knows.
I was flattered that he took the time, albeit just a few moments, to see how many of what I had done. Of course, if he had actually looked at the time between posts, he would have understood what I was saying. Why dont YOU look?
The blinders comment is simple, if someone wanted to take my post as something other than it was meant, they are obvously blind.
But please, lets stay on topic here, and try as we may to help and educate new people.
Thank you

Answer:
AH, thanks for your thoughts and advice. This is the kind of post that I read and actually listen to. I appreciate that there are drivers out there that truly hate trucking, but most come off as 12 year old kids playing on their first keyboard.
You, on the other hand, gave examples and that's what people need. That doesn't seem to be the norm on this forum. Most of the truly hateful truckers just jump into a thread with a quick one line BS comment about how the newbies are in a fantasy and they'll never be happy. Of course, their one brief comment is usually followed by one of these: That always adds lots of value to the statement.
RoadHugger, LOL! You wrote this:

...followed two lines later by this:

Answer:
FWIW, I sometimes want to know, if my logbook is in a holding pattern (to make up for time sitting in traffic or whatnot). Then, if I have to, I can quick draw a line if I know I'm going into a scale.
Good post.
Answer:
HAULABUNCH no DOUBT about it , it was a spelling error and I make no excuse for it.

Answer:
HA, Canman, you cant spell either. ha ha.
haulabunch, thank you, this is what I was trying to do. Good on ya.
but I do find somethings I would like to address in your post, so I will highlight some things.

Well, a truer statment need not be made here, except most of the time, on the road I mean, its a CB and not a keyboard. At least we have identified similarities.

Well, I hate to say this, but thats the way it is no matter where you work. As it applies to the trucking industry I belive there is too much time to sit and think. As far as BS comments, I am guilty of this on any topic, typicaly. I dont know why I have started this, as I have stated before, but I have ideas where I want to go with it.
There is a certian acpect of fantasy around here, belive it or not, and I was no different when I came here the first time back in 2000. The reason this place is called fantasy island is simple, zigzag. He surmised the comings and goings around here fairly acurately, and I happen to agree with him. I am also guilty of it, lets get that out of the way so as to curb the trashing of this thread. Ultimatley you and only you are the deciding factor on what is true happiness in life, and how your chioce of career paths fits into the mix is, of course, completly up to you. This will also change throughout your life, as it is a living document of sorts. but as far as never being happy, I belive you will be happy, even if its only temporary, and the emoticons where put there for a reason, and it is usually to convey ones, well, emotions I guess.

The statment has been made before, regarding this particular forum and others within the drivers roundtable, you get what you pay for
Whitedog, thank you for the positive contribution to this thread.
Fatty turnbuckle, Thanks for praise where it applies to this thread. Also the explaination of when to use the radio and reasons

Answer:
I'm with you, though. My CB stays off most of the time. I only listen if there's a traffic jam or something.
Answer:
My comment of " 1210 Posts and you say you are an occasional poster " was in REPLY to the start of your header " I DONT NORMALLY POST HERE " Ok
I read your post and you posted valid info however your not the first to do so so sorry I did not start the parade.
You will notice that I did not demean it in anyway , I did not make uncalled for comments , I did not do anything but QUESTION the part about you not normally posting on hereTHATS ALL.
As for a hoby or hobby no doudt or doubt ( RH ) about it I have a few , present 1 is waiting on word of my wife who is currently in intensive care .I
