finding a job
Question:
Hi guys the board is aw-some.My ? is,I just graduated from sch.on Jan.21. I have my cdl with hazmat endorsement. My problem is finding a job. I have 4 tickets in 3 years,no reckless driving,no wrecks.Everything is great but the tickets. They come off 2/28,3/25 and 5/25 of this year. Then I will only have 1 which I got 9/05/03.Right now Covenant is the only co.that will let me come to orientation, and they are making me wait until Feb. 28th.I am reading all sorts of bad things about them so I am very nervous about them. But if thats what I have to do to get the experience I will do it.Will other co's. be more receptive after the 28th when the 1st one comes off.I am worried that if I wait for the 3 to come off I will be to long out of school and no one will hire me. Thanks Mike

Answer:

Didn't the school warn you of this possibility?

Answer:
yes they did.when I was half way through.

Answer:
Looks like you've "qualified" for Covenant. Suggest you stay with 'em at least a year, then you'll have some experience and fewer tickets on your record, as long as you don't pick any more up while you're driving their big truck. BOL

Answer:
if it was me I would stay wiyh whoever hires you long enough for the tickets to drop off or a minimum of 3 months and then start looking real hard. It's common for newbies to quit their frist company and isn't really frowned upon all that badly. Just give it a good shot or make it look as if you did and start looking.

Answer:
thanks again for all the help guys.it is appericiated very much. Mike

Answer:

Having the three tickets drop off of your MVR will certainly provide you with more options than you have now.
One thing you might want to consider is checking with your driving school to see if they offer a short refresher course. You will look much better to most training companies without the three tickets and a refreshed CDL rather than with the tickets and a brand new CDL. BOL
