They kicked me out of the nest
Question:
Crazy week. Message came on Qualcom. "student has reached required training hours, report to Dallas terminal for processing". HAD to be there Sat. for testing on Monday but didn't actually test till Tue. By then, MY luck, a case of super flu was just kicking my azz real good.
Somehow passed the road test but it was NOT pretty
Then another full day waiting for truck assignment and then seems the only trucks left available that day were brand new 05 Pete 379's.
I would still be doing this except that the flu still has me doing this Haven't been this sick in over 20 years.
Spent another day chasing down an empty trailer & picking up 1st load then had just enough hours to bee-line home. Didn't have to deliver til today & 1hr from the house. Good thing, it took 2 days in bed & trip to the doctor just to feel up to driving.
Guess things will be plenty crazy from now on & there's still more than a hell of a lot I need to learn. Training was too short, just can't learn all you need to know during that time. So I hope you good folks out there will help me out from time to time.

Answer:

Answer:
Dont let a dispatcher tell you how you feel or how to drive. Make your own decisions without being inimadated by some goof ball of a dispatcher or operation manager. You have gotten into a "field of tigers", be careful.
Take care of your mother's best boy!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer:

you should be able to figuire out trucking from this point on your own,it's not that complicated, even a truck driver can do it
Answer:
whatever you do, don't tell your dispatcher you are sick! They'll make you go get "re-certified" on your medical card before you can drive. I know-it happened to me once. What a pain!!
Answer:
Too late, already told him. All he made me do was run 90 miles looking for an empty trailer for my 1st load and then interrupt my home time with an all day delivery that should have only taken 3 hrs.
He's a nice guy.

Answer:
One other little hint. If you catch a cold, or the flu, and go to a doctor, and he prescribes medication. Ask him or her if any of them have any "controlled substances" in them. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL FOR YOU TO TAKE THEM!! Just ask the doctor to them "counsel" you as to the possible effects on your abilities to drive a motor vehicle. After you have been counseled to the effect that it will not cause you to be dangerous...... get the medication, take it, and keep track of how much it affects you. Be careful.
And most importantly......even after you have finished taking the prescribed medication...... DO NOT THROW AWAY THE BOTTLE OR CONTAINER!!! Keep it for several months or more. If you should happen to have to have a drug test for any reason...... you are going to have to produce "proof" that the controlled substance was "legally" prescribed....or you are in deep trouble, out of a job, and killed a career...possibly.
Usually with a cold or flu that results in bad coughing...you may end up with medication containing "codeine". That is just one sample of a controlled substance that will test positive.
If you have any ?'s....see 382.213, a, b, & c.
Oh, one other thing.......and this is for everyone: If you are sick, please stay the dickens away from everyone else!! Cover your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze!! And wash your hands often. So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am.
