Furry friends
Question:
I am in the application process for a training program through a state technical college. I have read some of the older posts to get a feel for what the driving life is like. One question I did not see asked, let alone answered is this. Are there any OTR companies that would allow a driver to take a dog (German Shepherd) along. This is not a make or break question, but the companionship and protection would sure be nice. Answer: My 80 lb. Black Lab loves to ride in any vehicle. Pets are cool to have along in the truck, IF they like to ride. There's nothing worse than a pet with motion sickness or one that doesn't like to ride. Most (if not all) companies will require a pet deposit of, somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 or possibly more. ******************************* "I've always been different with one foot over the line. Winding up somewhere, one step ahead or behind. It ain't been so easy, but I guess I shouldn't complain. I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane." (from Waylon Jennings) Answer: I've seen a dweller out there a few times that has an absolute monster of a mastiff that rides with him - if they'll let that go, a sheperd should be no problem. Make sure you take some "before" pictures of your tractor's interior when you get it, because some will tend to blame preexisting damage on your pet. This is where one of those time/date stamp cameras comes in very handy. Answer: However most companies that do have pet policies seem to be of the type that allow one small dog or cat (under 50lbs or so). Also many companies also require a "secruity/damage" deposit of up to $500 for a driver to be allowed to tak along an animal. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.
