Question:
any good companies based in columbus ohio where a newbie can get on with?

Answer:
NTB hires out of Columbus. They have a terminal north of Dayton but have a drop lot in Columbus.
I drove for them for over 8 years and they are a decent company to work for.
They hire new drivers and, if you haven't been to school yet, they will send you there. Of course, you are obligated to spend a year with them.
The web site will give you more info. It's www.ntbtrk.com.
Good luck in the future.
