Training~what to carry?
Question:
I am scheduled to attend orientation/training soon. What is a reasonable amount of stuff to carry? Should it all fit into one large duffle bag?
Thanks

Answer:
Your company should provide you with a list of items you need to bring when you go to training.
However the basics are:
1 week worth of clothes. Be sure to add a few warm weather things in the winter and a few cold weather items in the summer.
Heavy coat
Light jacket
Comfortable shoes
Boots
bedding (sleeping bag and pillow or sheet/blanket/pillow- twin size)
OTC meds like tylenol, antacids, diarehha meds)
Prescription meds...enough to last 3 to 4 weeks
black ink pens
6 inch ruler
battery or dual powered calculator
work gloves
either cold weather gloves or jersey gloves to use as liners for work gloves
Motor Carrier atlas if you already have one...if not pick one up at a TS when you are training
all employment info for last 10 years including 3 references
Contact info for your personal doctor(s)
deposit slip or canceled check if you want direct deposit for your pay
folder to hold you paperwork that you keep and take with you
Certificate from driving school
Loan paperwork if school was financed
toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc)
small or med duffel to use as a shower bag
shower shoes (rubber flip flops)
Large or extra large type duffel or soft suit case that can fold flat.
Cloth laundry bag
ATM or debit card (personally i reccomend the later)
$100-$150 cash to start out with.
You should try to get your items into the two duffel bags. If you go with a sleeping bag don't worry about trying to stuff that into a bag.
