Past problems
Question:
I was hoping someone might shed some light on a situation that has me very puzzled. Several years ago, 1989, I was convicted of DUI. I paid the fine, did the time, and learned the error of my ways. I got my CDL in 1998, and now I am wondering if I can drive legally in Canada. I have heard that the DUI would disqualify me from Canada driving, but I was wondering if there is a statute of limitations on that. Any response would be very much appreciated. Answer: i heard through Werner that if you EVER had a DUI, you can not get into Canada Answer: Call Canadian Customs. They will tell you for sure. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: DUI is considered a felony in canada. Before you may cross the border you must obtain a pardon from canada customs. It costs around 400 bucks or so, but then you can enter canada. Most companies work around that though, as long as you know their policy on it and such.
