dont let them fool you
Question:
As a new driver, i get a lot of bull from the old timers about [ we dont need anymore stinkin new drivers who dont know how to drive]! Let me set a few of these hypocrites straight. first!, they werent born with a truck under thier large carcasses, second, a lot of these guys have some of the sorriest driving habits i have ever seen! One last thing, they also set and hide inside thier trucks and and run thier foul hillbilly mouths in such a way as to show that they didnt get out of the third grade. So, maybe some of these guys should retire and let people who have been trained for the job take over.GOD BLESS THE PRO TRUCKER!! Answer: These probably aren't "old timers". Real hands remember where they came from and usually are more prone to lend a hand rather than run their chops. These are wanna-be's and BBR hopefuls. Ignore the idiots.Sometimes you have to dig through a lot horsesh#t to find the pony. Answer: Confucious say: Man with very small XXXXX talk very big..... The problem is that the moron brigade that runs off at the mouth suffers from such low self esteem, and they are so miserable that they are compelled to share their misery with everyone they can. Below are some suggested rules to operate by: 1. Ignore the "putzes". 2. When in doubt, refer to rule #1. 3. Always remember what "Forest Gump" said: "Stupid is as stupid does". 4. Again, refer to rule #1. Nowadays.....I leave my cb turned off just about 98% of the time. Use it mainly to talk to "security" at pickups and deliveries. Just really don't want to hear the trash. XM radio has far more interesting things to listen to anyway.........So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am. Answer: on the CB, it hasnt changed at all. In the mid 60's you got the same stuff, the empty bucket makes the loudest noise. if you aregoing to yak @ someone change channels. Wizard Too Answer: The ones who bi+ch about how bad the new breed is are usually the ones who themselves have such deplorable driving/personal skills that the "new breed" is the only group who can possibly be less talented. Except that for the new breed, the condition is usually temporary. Secondly, if the new breed is so bad, then it is the old breed who ought to look in the mirror for the blame,as who do they think taught the new breed? Because as was stated, no one is born knowing how to drive a truck. And trucking is the only job that will have them. They can have the job. It isn't worth fighting over. Answer: Exactly! Answer: While some of the Old timers have their share of problems and have no room to talk. There are plenty that see what the industry is evolving into. They like most see the many 2 week driving school wonders that haven't a clue. They have a right to (edited) as they watch their business being run into the ground by large companies that hire anyone and after a short training period put them on the road in their own truck. They pay these new guys nothing and accept their screw ups as well as expect them to screw up. You can't expect some one who's been out there for a long time and is professional to think all is ok in the business. Because it's not. Answer: I would have to agree that the newbies with only two weeks of schooling under their belt are scary! I went 600 hours and am paying over $5,000.00 for the diploma I got. This was not just a fun and game thing for me as I am in my fifties. It was a new career. I would like to think I did my homework and went the smart and safe route. It means being away OTR from my wife of 26 years and my grandsons, but my wife is the best and understands the sacrifices that we are making. Hopefully she will be able to quit her job soon and go on the road with me. Trucking is like any other profession. There are those that small few that get all the attention and make it bad on the rest that do good. Answer: Ido respect some of the old timers that came up the hard way, the ones that are helpful, and that can pass on thier profession. Its the ones that once again hide behind thier cb mike and do nothing but complain about how we arent needed. Were they ever not truckers? everyone has to start somewhere, and i think this still is not a communist country. Im just saying dont be so selfish and let us make a living too. If there isnt room then retire! GOD BLESS THE PRO TRUCKER! Answer: Yea like 20 to 30 yrs ago there where no new drivers on the road, everyone was a well trained seasoned driver before being allowed to drive. Remember back in those days drivers had a driver lic. from every state to cover up their lousy driving records. Most old timers are the worse drivers out there. They park anywhere they want in truckstops, take forever to get their fuel, etc. OH wait they act just like new drivers, but because of their vast time on the road ,they and only they are allowed to break rules. Their just mad because when they want to park for the night next to the fuel island some new driver beat them to it.( New drivers learn bad habits from old timers) I've seen many a new driver spend 45 min or longer trying to park his truck in a slot and then seen an old timer pull in and park while blocking half the exit out on in to a truck stop. With 20 easy slots, most you can pull through, empty... Just get ya a fancy new truck with lots a chrome, lights, loud mufflers, jake brake, some stupid logo or saying on side of truck. People will believe your an old timer and when you break rules no one will say a thing to you. Answer: Are you serios!? Like it been said b4, 9 out of 10, or should i say 999 out of 1000, of those are just rookies, 2-3 year wonders! I couldn't imagine someone with 20-30 years behind, doing stuff like that! Answer: Just remember new drivers make mistakes because they dont know better, old timers know its a mistake, and they know no one will say anything about it. There for they feel, they and only they, are allowed to act the way they do. I would rather drive around, park around, and fuel with a bunch of new drivers than with a bunch of hard headed, stuck in thier way, nasty habit old timers anyday of the week. Answer: Just remember new drivers far out number the old timers and it is by alot in both trucks and mistakes. Just because you see a driver in a big Pete or some other large car it desn't mean their experienced. Just because you see some 50 year old driver it doesn't mean he is an old timer. Just because they have a big CB it doesn't mean he's been out there a long time. Making a judgement about a driver when you yourself are brand new doesn't mean you know what your doing. Just because you went to a long school or short school it doesn't mean you do or dont know how to drive a truck or know what your doing. Some people pick it up fast and some never do or can. If your paying attention to all the truck stop and CB bullcrap you are as much the problem as anyone else. Mind your own business, be as professional as you can and hopefully you can last a while yourself. Answer: Boy are you in for a rude awakening. Unless you have had some low class jobs with the bonus of working 24 hours ( paid for 11-14) a day and sleeping at the junk job. My experience is you will not be able to compare this profession to any other. $5000. for a truck school ? Unbelieveable. You could train for a real occupation for that or less. Where do they get these people ? Got to be on their last leg. Most couldn't get a pack of gum on credit but can be extended thousands for a trucking school. Amazing.Whoa is me. Yup, put the brakes on the trucking crapola and haven't looked back. Answer: True. It just means they have a fancy truck. But they haul the same crap to the same places that the driver in a plain-jane company truck does. Nor does it mean he will necessarily have better skills/judgement than a 25 year old driver. In fact the ones with the "big radios" tend to be the ones who place far more importance on image rather than substance. Or as they say in Texas, all hat and no cattle.
