How to get started in Tankers
Question:
I have been driving for over a year now running regional a lot of flatbed and some Van. I am 21 years old and yes I made it this long(never thought I would, it gets easier with time, (I think ) I am trying to get a entry level tanker job but can't find one that doesn't want tanker experience or 2-3 yrs experience or the 23-28 year old insurance age limit I live in Central California and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions who to try out thanks for all the help guys.

Answer:
Hit up Cyanide, he works for Aartman out of the central valley running OTR but they also have a lot of local trucks also. They bring us milk loads to our production facility down here in SoCal all the time. Most of the drivers I talk to seem happy and dont have much to complain about.

Give Kings County or MSM a call up in the Tulare area they haul milk locally all throughout the valley...................and if your really ambitious try talkin to Dairymens in Tulare, that there is a union shop and it pays quite well
Good Luck

Thanks for all the help guys Kings County wants a minimum of 3 yrs experience (go figure ) and Dairymens isn't much better haha. Still waiting to hear from Cyanide, if anyone has got any more suggestions please feel free to well... suggest. Thanks.

Answer:
One thing you have to understand is that given the special quirks of tankers it takes a steady hand and foot and a lot of paitence to drive one safely. Most "new' drivers (those with less than a couple of years experience) do not have this and as a group younger drivers do not have the paitence and temperment for it.
Out of curiosity have you checked with Schnieder?
Answer:
Dont have anything against 21 year olds, (wish I was one myself), but I dont think they should be pulling tankers.

Answer:

A good quality set of ANTI-SURGE LOAD LOCKS should help out here...
