Have you talked with the school you are planning on attending. Some driving schools, as part of the program cost, include all learning materials as well as the cost for the state written exams and skills tests. If you jump the gun and go and take the written tests now, you may find yourself paying those fees twice.
As far as what is a passing grade goes you need to contact your state's liscensing department to find out as each state is just a little different in how they are set up.
