It's easier to show than explain!!
Question:
LAst week, my wife decided to spend her vacation running around the country with me.... The first surprise came when I told her that we couldn't take everything she wanted to........ The second came when she realized that you really can see from up in the air like that.... The trip? Not too bad but lots of country and clear running. (A little over 3300 miles total) The purpose? This is the first time I have been in a position to actually show her what my my job is like... Now she'll understand more what I'm talking about. The sequence - We left Dallas on Saturday, headed out to a noon delivery in Wauwatosa, WI on Sunday. Spent the night at the Gateway Sat and rolled out early enough to miss all the traffic. After delivering in Wauwatosa, we had to shag an empty trailor from Oak Creek and then up to Kaukana for a relay into Smyrna, TN. From Smyrna back up to Antioch for a relay going into Albany, GA. From Albany, GA to Columbus to relay a load into Ellenwood. Out of Ellenwood to Winder, GA picking up a load for Houston, TX delivering Friday at 1100. From there we were supposed to get a load into Garland, TX so I could drop her at the house. In actual fact, the shipper had messed up, so we had to drag the load home and I get to deliver it Tuesday morning... Love the paid miles round-trip to the house!!!! We really enjoyed this trip. Of course she did catch lots of bunk time in the dark hours when she couldn't watch the countryside.. And she was able to work on her crafts while we were running down the road. I think the height of insult though was after we left Kautana... She crawled back in the bunk and watched the Cowboys/Packers game while I was heading on down the road..... She saw lots of the the good, bad and ugly at some of the places we had to go but she also saw things as we were rolling that were enjoyable. Why am I putting this here? Simply because if ever you have the chance to take your spouse along and show them exactly what you do and deal with every single day, then it helps keep the lines of communication open. Also, the feeling of "closeness" that two people can get in a twin-bed sized bunk is .... interesting to say the least.... Her final reaction to the whole experience? "I'm finally going to be able to sleep in my own bed tonight?" Seriously, it is well worth considering taking your spouse along for a trip and maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to find out that you still have lots of things to talk about and have fun with.....I ride for those who can't! POW/MIA - You are NOT forgotten!! Lead, Follow or get out of my way!!! Answer: Glad you 2 had fun! I do hope that you took along a camera to get shots of stuff that one normally does not see around the home 20. Answer: Darn UnkaD - Wauwatosa is about ten miles from my house - wish I had known you were in the area! The wife hasn't been able to go over the road with me yet - we have no one to take care of our dog, and you know the company's policy on pets. The wife is really looking forward to going with me someday - She sees it as a big adventure (which it probably would be for her), but will probably be surprised at the reality of it all.
