Advice on Satellite Radio Choices???
Question:
Hi everybody,
I really need anyones advice on the choice between XM and Sirius radios.....I have tried both samples and I like the truckers channel much better on Sirius because it is full of advice versus XM's which is mostly music or shows with the same callers over and over again.....
I love talk radio mostly and sports Sirius has NFL but I'm home weekends so I watch those.....but XM just got contract with MLB so that makes me wonder too?
Also, how about reception thats my main concern if you have one of these how is your reception, I've heard Sirius has more satellites and is clearer but not sure if true or not?
Please some advice ASAP.....thanks.I'm in love with my sweet angel Cindy !!!!!

Answer:
I know a handful of drivers that have them both. I saw the Blaupunkt unit for Sirius, and it's a niiiice unit. Self contained FM modulator.
However like you mentioned....MLB on XM. Nothing would make my day happier than to listen to my beloved Red Sox while out in the truck, or out on the boat.

Answer:
I've got XM but will probably get Sirius as well.
The XM music channels have, in my opinion, gone to the dogs with the addition of the nitwit DJs; I'm interested in listening to music, not some clown run off at the mouth.
I can easily live without the "Big Three" of "Trucking Radio" on XM, and without Bozo, as well.
On the other hand, I do enjoy Bruce Williams and will probably keep XM for that reason alone.
As for reception, I've had no problems except where the signal is obviously blocked (tunnels, overpasses during traffic jams, running close to the side of 'mountains', etc.). I use an external antenna but had equally good reception with the stick-on car antenna stuck in the overhead package shelf (Freightliner).BOL

I agree with the "DJ scenario", Phil. I like my 80's on 8, but the DJ they have on in the morning is a friggin idiot. Now they have Opie and Anthony on somewhere in there, but they want an additional 1.99 per month! Sorry, I couldn't stand them before.........

Answer:
I recently made a switch from Sirius to XM. I had Sirius almost a year.
5 million bucks for Howard Stern????????? I think Sirius's 5 million bucks would be better spent more wisely in overall programing upgrades.
Another thing about Sirius that was starting to drive me nuts is their public service commercials. Over and over again, and the thing is, there poor script promo's that are irritating to listen to.
I'll give XM a test drive for about a year. I like some of the programing channels on XM. More up to date music selections. Sirius is not updating their music hard drives on their music channels. Same songs repeat over and over again after 24 hours.

Answer:
I have XM and enjoy it....from different music channels...mostly 60's and 70's and Jazz.....but I also like the Sonic Theater and old time radio channels. BBC gets a listen now and then....and occasionally CNN. Haven't compared it to Sirius...but then I got XM because our fleets trucks came with the XM radio in it and all I had to do was subscribe.
I'm just happy I don't have to "channel surf" every hour....and no commercials on the music channels.....yeah, some of the dj's are bs....but I don't listen to them anyway. So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am.

Answer:
I have both xm and sirius (although i just got the sirius), they r both about the same, if you r a big football and sports fan like i am...sirius is the way to go, if you like just baseball and could care less about the others xm is the way to go, either way you should be happy there both about the same. As far as those inane, repetitive public service announcements they r on both services...they have to fill the airwaves on those channels while the regular channels the shows are being broadcast on fill it with loud annoying commercials for viagra, levitra and propecia.....i dont think dead air would work very well for long, i think people would think theres something wrong with there units.I like em both so far, isnt it funny just a couple years ago you had nothing to listen to crossing the desert except jesus talk or navajo nation stuff, now you have so much to choose from we have to complain about psa's I am glad they r getting stern, i only wish bubba the love sponge and a local so fla talent (neil rogers) were available for me to listen too...i miss em..

Answer:
Do many company drivers get XM or Sirius installed ? Would suck to invest into it and then lose the truck .

Answer:
thats y you get the portable plug and play units so they r portable then you can move freely and at will

Answer:

Answer:
I don't think it's been mentioned, but Opie and Anthony are available on XM as well as Playboy for a few extra bucks.
I have XM myself and I believe it's superior. It comes down to fundamentals...
I have Sirius on my Dish and have noticed the djs come on between every 2 songs or so and babble about BS. On some XM channels they come on too but much less in general, and they actually have something decent to say. They tend to keep it short in most cases and never ever talk over music (heard it once in a year), Sirius DJs tend to talk over music constantly.
I'm not trying to rag on Sirius as competition is good and I don't have anything against them, but it comes down to fundamental differences like that. One more note, XM has smaller, generally nicer radios. I do like the Sirius Audiovox PnP3 though a lot. You might want to go to Crutchfield or Circuit City online to look at all of the radios available from both companies to help make your decision as programing is virtually the same. I must say that some of the newer Sirius radios are FUGLY though.
