Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

Dont let them get you down..........
Question:
Just read a post about a fairly new driver who is disgusted by the idotic, childish behavior by other truck drivers who constanly critisize him for the way he drives, (and probably about the way he eats, drinks, and passes gas if he new it all).
Out there you will encounter all sorts of people. There are the good, the bad, the ugly, and the super truckers. For the most part the majority are OK but the truth of the matter is as human beings we tend to remember the worst that comes our way with greater ease than the best.
One thing that you, as a new driver, need to be prepared for is that sooner or later you are going to find someone who is going to rip on you for how you are driving. They are going to get angry at you for taking a corner or ramp "too slow" or going down a hill at 40 when they want to do it a 70. What you need to do is ignore these idiots and drive your truck the way you feel safest for you. Everyone has different comfort levels, every load and every truck and trailer handles a little bit differently. You have to add up all of these factors and decide what is safe for YOU in your particular current situation. After all your number 1 priorty, and the next 2 million after that, is to deliver that load and return home SAFE, no where, not ever, is it a priority, or even wise, to try to please the super truckers out there. All that will do is get you in a world of hurt in a hurry.
Let you all in on a little secret. Even after three years and a 100% safe driving record I still get chewed out at least once a week by someone who is so "talented" they can drive thier truck and mine at the same time. I usually just ignore them or if I am feeling honery I thank them for coming along when they did and being so good they can drive two trucks at once so I can go in the bunk and watch TV while they take my load the rest of the way in.
Be safe, be kind, be courteious. Do it the best you can and to hell with the jerks out there. Dont worry about them, but watch out for them down the road because they will often be the ones jack knifed at the bottom of the hill or rolled over on the next ramp.
As far as I know there are only two things that are truly infinite. The universe and human stupidity and to be honest I am not 100% sure about the universe.

Uturn!!!!!!! Just yesterday pulling my backhaul up to So. Oregon followed another truck up through Stockton in moderate traffic about 8:30 a.m. This guy was cussing a blue streak at another truck ahead of him in the second lane. Seems the other one was going slower than the grannie lane traffic. This guy made 8 lane changes in the course of 4 mi. trying to get around the slow one. When he finally got up allong side the slow truck he made a move over on the guy. Scared me along with the slow driver. When the jerk took a breath between cusses I reminded him 0f all the lane changes he made along with the dangerous move and I was still right behind him having made 1 lane change and we were both doing 60 in a 55. Dang if he didn't appreciate my comments. They're everywhere out there. Last year listened to 3 drivers in a verbal fight climbing Stage Pass hill on I-5 in Or. when we all came upon a 4 wheeler van on fire these 3 all pulled over and used fire extinguishers to put out the fire like they were a team. Go figure!

Answer:
I don't know....I try to avoid anything I might get chewed-out for. Maybe it's like driving for the lowest common demonitor -- assume everybody's an idiot and give 'em a little space.
Newbies and others do crazy things to me on the passes all the time -- pull out to pass at 25mph while you're comng-up the left lane at 40, you shift, maybe twice, lose your momentum.
I never chew them out. They either know what they've done and don't care, or are learning as they go along, in which case they're a little hmiliated when they realize they've screwed-up.
The cb is slop communication. Annonymous, crude and vulger. I keep mine off a lot, especially with students.
Sometimes you say it best shen you say nothing at all.
