CDL permits / trucking school
Question:
Hey drivers, I'm currently 20 years old, and am looking at going teaming with my dad. I was hoping to get into the school on the third of January; however, I was informed last night that before I can go to the school, I have to get my permits first. Which wouldn't be a big deal, except I don't turn 21 until January 1st. So, my question is this: Do any of you guys/ladies know if I can get my permits early? I'll only need to get them a week or two early so that I can enroll in the school on the third. Has anybody heard of an exception like my case being allowed before? I sure hope so, I'm a concrete worker right now, and I'd sure like to get off the jobsite before I have to wade through 3 feet of snow to get to the buildings. Answer: In the state of mich. you can get a cdl at the age of 19 / you just can't do interstate trucking untill you are 21. I beleave that all states have simular rules and it dosn't cost nothing to ask. Answer: Not all companies but, some require that you be 23 yrs. old also Answer: i'm not sure about montana...but in wyoming i got my permit when i was 19, and got my license when i was 20...but you have to stay in state until you are 21..the tests are fairly easy if you have looked at the book since it is pretty close to january, you should be able to get your permit now...i believe that it is good for 3 to 6 months, but you should double check that Best of Luck and C.Y.A. I know google is my friend, I googled and found that website after I posted my original message. Answer: In Florida you can get CDL at 18 to drive intrastate, and 21 to drive interstate.
