Good Outfit for a TRAINER?
Question:
I have a friend who lives in my hometown of San Antonio who's looking for a good company to be hired on as a TRAINER. He has six years experience and a very safe record. Thanks for any and all advice. Not liable for any information posted. Answer: I think he at least should call and talk with Celadon. I liked working for them and I know that they get through San Antonio often, which means he can get to the house more often and get away from the newbie before he strangles him/her. Also CFI goes through there a lot and they are a good company but they do have that Driver unload friggin tires. If it hadn't been for that I was going to work for them. But he can make the newbie do the unloading.what do i know i am just a truck driver Answer: I don't think that Celadon has any trainers, do they? The last I had heard, they required 3 months experience to hire on. Answer: Celadon does not hire newbies. Answer: Apologize. They used to have a lot of trainers when I was there but that was 3-4 years ago.what do i know i am just a truck driver Answer: C R England! Only kidding, really. Look at Marten. http://www.marten.com/opportunities.htm Answer: Formerly Geladon... formerly Triceratops... Answer: If he wants to make pretty decent and consistent training dollar, I'd suggest Werner. They'll put him in a brand new condo and will let him do as many miles as the law allows, if he wants. They top-out around 70k a year. 60k is probably more typical. The problem with ANY training company is the high volume of un-evenly qualified trainees. But at least at Werner or another "major", he's stepping-into an institutionalized training machine. The need is critical, everyone's desperate, and Werner knows how to help a productive trainer make top dollar to keep them. I wouldn't do it again if they friggin' GAVE me the truck.....but different strokes for diffferent folks. Good money training with the major carriers if you're willing to help wash-out the hopeless and run hard with the good ones. He'll probably have to run solo a while to learn that company's "system" no matter where he goes. But with a good 6-year record and a few weeks good solo work, Werner will waste no time qualifying him, upgrading his truck and keeping an endless supply of students on his truck with as many legal miles as he thinks he can handle. Requires exceptional people (and corporate/political) skills. Answer: I dont know if he is in their hiring area or not but your buddy could check out Trans AM.
