Question:
Got a call from a recruiter today saying he was with Driver Srevices (anyone ever hear of them?) & that he is a recruiter for Wal-Mart and Home Depot.
Asked who I'm driving for & I replied I'm not, 2 more days of school & test out on Sunday.
Call me back as soon as you get your CDL he says.
So I ask, Wal-Mart hires new grads with no experience?? Answer, yes.
OK, so I ask what kind of training program. Answer, .... NONE!!!
Thinking I must surely have misunderstood I asked again, they don't put their inexperienced, newly graduated people with a trainer??? Answer, nope, you should have learned everything you need in school. Didn't laugh, chuckel, or anything. This guy was serious! Said "we put you in an older truck to start and you go on your own".
Still in disbelief, I tell the guy that the school only teaches enough to get the license, not everything you need to know in order to hit the road with no training.
He asks, what school are you going to?? Still sounded dead serious.
I CANNOT believe that Wal-Mart or Home Depot would hire in such a hap-hazard way. Was this guy on drugs, highly confused, a prankster, or WHAT.
Has anybody ever heard of such??

Wal-Mart requires 250,000 miles and 3 years of experience.
Home Depot? Unless he is talking about local store delivery, which around here they sub-contract that out to TNT.

He sounds as crazy as a recruiter from the same company that called me. Said he had a great job with only 2.5 months out and 2 weeks off. He was dead serious about how good the job was also.

Drivers services is a recruiter for J B HUNT. I amde the mistake of talking to them one time. I had to change my number. And before you wonder why he said that he hired for those companies just remember we all do loads for those companies. As does Drivers services.what do i know i am just a truck driver

Lucky, makes sense now how he got my #. JB Hunt has called me twice before asking me to come to them as soon as I get 3 months. Scams shine through and sh#t stinks so unbelieveable is reasonalbe.

Some areas of Wal Mart ARE taking students. Not may. Yes Wal Mart is needing drivers. The .36 now since pay raise is not bringing many folks.
I only KNOW Of one are they are taking students. It is BENTON county AR. Must be a test program.
Most recruters are like the US military. They are begging for any one they can get. Till you have experiance you have nothing to offer them.
Home Depot is contracted with many folks like JB Hunt, NFI, Swift, and so on.

Now I'm talking about a Company driver "for" Wal-Mart, not the JB Hunt or other dweller companies that you see pulling Wal- Mart trailers.

Dave, from DS has called me 3 or 4 times on my cellphone in the last 3 months, telling me how great they are. I have repetedly told him that A) I make more money than JB, per mile. I get more miles than the average JB driver C) I get paid on practical miles, not short route D) I go home whem I want and E) I don't want to go to work for JB Hunt. PERIOD. 3 days later another guy called.
This poor guy got tied up on the phone for close to an hour with me, answering every single stupid question I could think of. Things for which he had to put me on hold, to get an answer. Got all done talking to him and he asked me if I was ready to sign up. Told him NO and said every time I get a call from them I would tie the caller up just like I did to him.
I wonder if this is recognized as telemarketing? If so, I think I'll file for the do not call list.

Told ya. Drivers services is a jb hunt recruiter. The guy told me so about 3 yrs ago when i put my app. online here. They also use other names he had told me because you are able to check off who you do not want your applicationj to go to and evryone was checking off JB hunt. So they came up with this way to get people to talk to em.
