If you could choose your trainer... good, bad, or indifferen
Question:
In your personal opinion, ifa newbie could choose a trainer and thereby be assured of at least getting one that will take care in properly training, would it be a big plus? Wouldn't make much difference? Or do you think it would have a down side?
I just learned that a friend is related to a trainer & 31yr. employee of one of the companies I'm considering & that there might be a possibility that he (trainer) might be able to pull a string and have me assigned to him.
Trying to weigh pros & cons.
Any thoughts??

Answer:
If an acquaintance of yours knows the trainer you're interested in, then he/she can give both of you some insight on each other prior to meeting and going on the road together.
I was a road trainer for U.S. Xpress prior to becoming an Owner-Operator several years ago. It was kind of tough to let a total stranger into my truck, but fortunately, many of my students and I ended up becoming lifelong friends while we were out there.
I used to interview the students I saw at the terminal that were awaiting a trainer, picking out who I felt most comfortable in taking on the road with me, and giving them some insight about me as well. This was important, especially when it's considered that we would be sharing the confines of a truck for six weeks, and literally have our lives in each other's hands!
I enjoyed training, but I believe I'm at that point now where I wouldn't want to do it anymore, even if I decided to park my truck with the fuel prices being what they have been .Not liable for any information posted.
