Knight transportation anyone got any info?
Question:
How do they stack up? How is there honesty? Recruting tactics? Do they promise the moon and deliver the contents of the toilet? What is their word worth? do they keep it? Do they adhere to hometime policies? Do they treat drivers with respect? Anyone with any dealings with them let me know how you rate em.I dont care if you stop loading me to talk on your cell, Im getting PAID BY THE HOUR!!! Member AHD/CPGGS Answer: Read what these guys have to say: http://idodac.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=123 seems 75% of the people posting on that sight can't stand them. I know nothing about them myself. Equipment appears to be newer and well kept (but that's not what those posters above say). It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves. Bette Midler Answer: Based strictly on what I have heard there seems to be little middle ground with Knight. Their drivers either can not stop singing the praises of this company or bemoaning it's shortcomings. I do know there is a guy who lives around here that has been driving for them since sometime before 1999. Answer: I dont know a thing about Knight. Have you tried Averitt. I don't know if they hire out your way or not. Their trucks run about the same speed as mine and seem to travel the same roads a lot. I have talked with a few while going down the road. If I was looking again I would definatly look into them. Equipment is good, pay a little above and home time guaranteed and better than others. BOL Answer: It appears to me they are one of the better companies out there to work for, but than again I've never worked for them. Its just what I hear. Wasent it them that made the 200 best places to work list? They just started up a reefer division too. Answer: I worked for them for three months ending in January so I thought I'd give you some opinions. Their equipment is good, newer Freightliners and Volvo's. Only had one dispatcher, and he was a moron, so my knowledge of their dispatchers was limited. Plan to hang on the phone for awhile if you need to call their shop. Phone would ring up to 15 minutes before they would answer it, and Freigthliner repair shops would bill them for the time they waited to get them to answer the phone to get an authorization number on a comcheck. They are non forced dispatch, so that is good. But their pay is on a sliding scale. The longer the trip the lower the cents per mile. The owners are former executives for Swift, so I would call Knight, Swift Lite. Answer: i just left knight trans and i have no good memories about them while i was there other than i got a brand new 2005 volvo there truck speed is 61 or 62mph the longer your trip the less they pay you like 25 or 27 cpm long trips over 400 miles the pay like 30cpm they rip me off after 2 months of crawling all over the east coast i decided to move so the charge me 200 dollar for leaving b4 a 3month period. they pay per trip not once a week like most places they pay per trip so i hope you don't have any bills that you like to pay all at once because it want work.............i tried. they have no trip boxes on the road you have to get to a terminal to turn it in trip packs and like most companies no paper work no pay. they are a no force dipatch company but they try to force you to do a load you might not wanna do and if you do turn it down don't expect another load assignment for atleat another 5 to 6hrs at your time and cost. the staff is ok but the way they run the company is not in a drivers favor but clearly to fattin the owners pocket........................oyeah if you break down on the road but can still move the truck don't expect to go to the next truck stop for repairs you gonna drive that truck to nearest knight term with a shop to get repaired so if you lose you AC or turbo or anything that cause that truck to be a horrible ride be prepared to tuff it out. lord have mercy on you if you lose your ac in texas or one of it's neighboring states...... my opinion keeping lookin knight isn't a driver friendly company unless you wanna drive a volvo or your willing to put up wit a lot of crap just 2 get home every weekend. but there are others out there that offer great home time on hte weekends. Answer: Although, all of the big major carriers I've ever worked for DID have either trip boxes or Pre-Paid Trip Envelopes... If there was a trip that I wanted to go on This check, I would Over-Night It.(UPS, Fed-Ex, or overnight it with the USPS....) Yep, I paid for it out of MY pocket....which is why I did NOT do it very often.(just a few times that payday was around a major holiday & I wanted to make sure I got paid for those trips BEFORE the holiday.) I bought about 5-6 Over-Night stamps from the post office, so that I would always have some handy. I worked for 2 small ma & pa carriers that gave the drvrs Pre-Paid Fed-Ex labels.(the carriers had accounts with Fed-Ex.) ============================================================= That's the way it was at EVERY carrier I've ever drvn for(small & large carriers)...If you turn down a load, you go to the BOTTOM of the "list" & you have to WAIT until your name comes back to the top of the list.(could be a few hrs or a few days) ============================================================= That's the way it was at ALL of the big, major carriers that I've drvn for. Unless the Problem was still under Warranty, then they would send drvr to dealership somewhere for repairs.(I'm Not saying that ALL carriers are like that, just the large carriers that I've drvn for.) Depending on What the problem was, CFI, might have drvr go to a dealer or trkstp to get it fixed. I remember one time when I was with CRST, the A/C went out in Arizona a few hrs before our delivery appt..(121 degrees) They told us to Wait until we got to a Terminal to get it fixed. We picked up a load in Phoenix & took it to California where we had a 2-day layover.(I was able to talk dispatch in to paying for a motel while we were layed-over.) After laying over 2 days we finally got a load going through OKC where we got the A/C fixed. ============================================================= I'm NOT saying that ALL carriers are like this....Just the big, major carriers that I'VE drvn for. Answer: KNIGHT is SWIFT spelled backwards I thought about making a company jump, but it turns out it would have been a lateral move at best; Swift was definitely the better company. People like 'em and dislike 'em for the usual reasons, but Chocolate Sunday brought up a good point. They don't use TripPak or PrePaid postage and complaints about maintenance seem to be a big gripe...... Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
