Trucking company visits
Question:
How welcome are you to stop in at most trucking companies terminals to talk with recruiters and / or their drivers? Should you call first?

Answer:
It really depends on the company, but it would be a good idea to call first so they know you are coming. Also be sure to check in at the office 1st thing so no one thinks you might be there scouting the company for a robbery or something.
Answer:
I never had a problem just walking into companys looking for work.

I say yes. They say ok. Test drive time. (I never had driven a van before or a road truck).

Answer:
I have also walked into a couple of places but calling wouldn't hurt since some companies might have days/times aleady set up for recruiting seminars at the terminal.
Be prepared to not only have to fill out a form or two but to also listen to the Companies Dog and Pony Show . Most times they will give you a short tour of the site all the time you will be hearing how great the company is and how special it wil treat you as a driver should you decide to work for them... take some TUMS prior to going as well as a few asprins

Answer:
I would do it without hesitation if I lived close enough to a terminal. If it is a smaller company I would just do it. Most places need drivers and you might find yourself walking in at the right time. It could also show initiative on your part.

Answer:
The "better" jobs are usually found by the "walk in" applicant.
