Final 2 Picks
Question:
Hi all! I just got my CDL and have narrowed it down to 2 companies to start with: US Xpress and USF Glen Moore(Roehl and KLLM runner ups). Please give me any and all advice about these guys. The good, the bad,and the ugly.I need to hear iot all please. Thanks a lot! Answer: Answer: Who would you pick Choclit? Answer: I might turn your choices around just a little and go for Roehl or US Express. No real good reasoning for it. Just what I've heard about each of the four mentioned. Answer: USF Glenn Moore (1st place for Dry Van carriers) KLLM(1st place for Refridgerated carriers) Roehl USX(Auto-Shift trks...if you have exp drving a manual shift trk, USX is an okay carrier...If you do NOT have manual shift experience, then I suggest waiting until you get exp to go with them.) Although I've Never drvn for Any of the above carriers.....I Have drvn for SWMF(which was the Solo Division of USX).(the trlrs were interchangeable, picked-up & delivered at the same places, same terminals, etc.) I could Not stand that company!(they did Not have auto-shift trks back when I drove for them...1993) Send Detour, a PM....she is currently drving for USX.(this is her 2nd stint with them), she's getting Plenty of miles & is having a great time.(she's also an EXPERIENCED drvr, with Many yrs of drving under her belt.) Answer: Thanks Choclit!!! You have no idea how much your advice just changed my decision making.I am setting up a phone interview with USF GLen Moore right now. Also,I liked the bit on the getting experience with manuals before getting into an autoshifter, great outlook on that topic indeed! US Xpress will have to wait right now, unless they offer me a regional/dedicated run lol.Roehl is out of the question and KLLM has a little fighting chance to stay up.Thankks again! Answer: Is that all that USX has is auto shift trucks? Answer: Yes, according to information I learned from recruiters and brochures from US Express, all of their fleet is autoshift trucks. Their oldest is a 2000. The trucks at their training academy in Medway, Ohio is all autoshift. Answer: UPDATE: After my phone interview with USF Glen Moore, the guy told me that after orientation in Knoxville, they may have to send me back home for up to two weeks to wait for a trainer,is that normal??? US Xpress said I'll be given a trainer immediately after orientation.Hmmmm Answer: With most, if not all, training companies you have a chance of having to wait for a trainer for up to a week or two. There are only so many people willing to take on a new driver. Sounds like to me The USF recruiter was showing some honesty with you. Answer: hmmm, good advice and good point! thanks Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
