It's going to sound cold, so I'm warning you in advance...
Granted you've tried to give as much information as asked for in other posts, BUT, you have also stated that you're working for the DOD right now. Additionally, you've stated you want to make good money....
My personal advice, is to stay where you are unless you have a burning desire to enter a totally new lifestyle. I've been driving now for just about six months and personaly enjoy it, but my situation may be radically different than yours.
Start looking around at the companies that hire "newbies" in your area and do your own research on them. After you have narrowed them down to the few you may want to apply to, then ask specific questions about them.
Asking the way you have, leaves it wide open and you may not get the types of answers you are looking for, or, you might be led to assume (falsely) some good or bad about a particular carrier that may not even come close to what your looking for....
