road maps
Question:
are there any places cheapier to get the proper road maps other than truck stops Answer: You can try some of the Wal-Marts, that are in & around trucking communities.(such as Super Wal-Mart, West Memphis,Ark., Sam's Club/Wal-Mart, in Joplin,Mo.....Super Wal-Mart in Springfield,Mo...Super Wal-Mart off I-40 & McArthur in OKC, ect.) Some of the sporting good stores sell them...they may or may not be cheaper than the truckstop. Some of the major bookstores may have the paper ones, but they may or may not be cheaper than the truckstop. I suggest paying Cash for a paper 2004 Rand McNally, Motor Carriers' atlas until you have enough Frequent fueler points to get a 2005 Laminated Rand McNally, Motor Carriers' atlas from the truckstop. Keep your CB on around truckstops because you might hear someone selling them cheap on the CB. That's how I've bought a few in the past....including the last 2003 Laminated one I have. Last year a guy was walking around the truckstop selling 2003 Laminated ones for $15 then a few weeks later he was back selling the 2004 Laminated ones for $20. Answer: Hmmm...sounds like Barnes and Noble and maybe Borders might have'm too? Wonder if there's some on eBay. Answer: The 2004 laminated version of the Motor Carriers Atlas is on sale at Pilot truckstops for $19.95 right now. If you ask me, that's a hell of a deal. This is probably your most important tool for driving. Trust me, you don't want to go cheap on this. You need the information in the MC Atlas from time to time and it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.Wayne Answer: I must Agree, $19.95, really IS a Bargain for the Laminated. I suggest that you Grab it Now for $19.95. I may have to run out & grab me one for that price. Answer: Any Pilots around Sacramento? The only one I know of around here is the 49er(Think it got bought by T/S). Answer: There's a Pilot up in Dunnigan, just north of Sacramento. Answer: I went to the Pilot Website & the $19.99 Laminated Atlas is AFTER a $10.00 mail-in Rebate.(which still is not a bad deal.) Answer: $30 for a current laminated atlas is a good price especially considering Rand Mcnally and many book stores sells them for around $80.
