Any info on P.A.M.
Question:
I am looking at going to school sponsored by P.A.M. Does anyone have any info on them or USA truck? Thanks....jim Answer: I don't have any 1st hand knowledge of either of those carriers. I have talked to a few USA drvrs & none of them really had anything good to say about the company. All except one of them were looking for other carriers to drv for when I talked to them. The person I drove the rock trk for used to drv for Choctaw, which is an affiliate of P.A.M. He has nothing but good things to say about the company.(Choctaw) ============================================================ BTW, Welcome Aboard TruckNet and feel free to use TruckNet's search feature to look at past posts about those carriers.(I put the link below.) Answer: Thanks for the info. That is the one I am leaning toward. I am employed as a police officer right now but I am looking at going to school. I would like to be able to ride with someone to get a real feel of what goes on if anyone is in the Eastern N.C. area is interested let me know. Thanks Answer: Looks to me right here http://www.pamt.com/ServiceArea.html if you want to go west once in a while---P.A.M. would not be for you. Just something to consider. Another thing that would concern me is; their web site is very informational except to those seeking driving positions. This would have me wondering if the recruiters are set up to "size-up" the perspective employee, and offer a pay/benefits package based on how inteleget and/or nieve they feel the caller acts or sounds over a telephone inquiry to the company. I personally don't give a company a second look when I "feel" they are intentionally misrepresenting themselves by not haveing a standard package published on an extensive web site such as theirs. But hey; I'm not you, right? It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves. Bette Midler Answer: I got a packet that included the same low pay for newbies as everyone else for the first year. But they will pay for the school minus 999.00. What seems to be the truck sponsored school of choice? Answer: Yeah. Avoid them like the plague!- Hamilton Carhartt, founder of Carhartt Apparel Answer: About 10 years ago, they had such a high turnover, people were calling them "No-Stick PAM". Answer: I had worked in the Allen Freight Services division from 95-99 and was happy with them. All of P.A.M. divisions are regional service, but I did on occasion drive further west at least 2 times a year. The plus side of running regional is you will get home or by the house more often than OTR. If you want to run OTR (all 4 go thru other carriers like Swift, Werner, Schneider, CRST, or Roehl.
