US Xpress ...on month, off month
Question:
Hello all. Wannabe newbie maybe. Does anyone know anything about a program of driving for a month on and then a month off. I saw this on a US Xpress add somewhere and wonder if anyone here has ever tried it or knows anyone who has. I know it would cut your pay (by half , I assume) , but I don't require a big income and would like to have time to take care of my older mom who is by herself. Any way , howdy from Oklahoma and thanks in advance for any info. Answer: Welcome Aboard TruckNet! Send Detour, a PM....she currently drvs for USX. Answer: Thanks for the welcome and refering me. I guess this must not be a well known program (month on; month off) or maybe nobody wants to be a half-a#$ed trucker but me Answer: I don't know about U.S. but I think that Boyd Brothers have a week on week off if you're close enough to one of the terminals. Welcome aboard and keep us posted on what ya find Might start a whole new way of truckin -J.C.- Answer: There are several companies who are adopting a "lifestyle" fleet practice. To date the most common are 4 on 4 off and 7 on 7 off. With many of these you "share" a truck with one other driver who is also on the program. A month on, month off is a new one on me though. Answer: There's also the CRST 20/10 program where you drive 20 and then 10 off. Don't know much about it other than hearing a reference to it. I'd think a 7/7 would be better for taking care of someone than a 30/30 since you'd be gone such a long stretch at a time. Anyway, good luck with whatever you do. Answer: solo: I start with USX on the 13th and was offered a 6 days on,1 day off regional run.Never heard of the 1 month on/1 month off deal but i'll ask them indeed when i get to orientation.I'll keep you posted. Answer: It's called the "Flex Fleet" option. I don't know all the details about it but will look into it. Answer: I asked around and found out that the Flex Fleet is a teams only deal, no solo program. Basically two teams take turns sharing one truck, one month on one off. It was designed for teams who want or need more time off than is usually allowed. Answer: Many thanks to all of you who replied. I knew I didn't just dream this but since I doubt I would wanna drive team I guess this is not an option. I'm still ridin' the fence on becoming a driver but all your friendly efforts to help put more weight on the positive side. Thanks again! Answer: Mighty nice of them. 6 days is 144 hours per week on the job. Ever done anything that stupid before in your life ? I doubt it. Don't do it now for the pitiful wages per hour you will receive.______ |l ,[____], l---L –OlllllO- ()_) ()_)-(-)_) I'd rather die on my feet like a man than live on my azz hiding in a truck.........Sir James Brown Answer: Yeah, welcome another undercutting part-timer hobbyist to the ranks.
