And another Swifty account goes down the tubes...
Question:
Had to do a double-take on my way back home this morning when I saw a JB pulling an M.S. Staples dedicated trailer. Swifty lost the big money account up in CT. I guess ol' Jerry will have to cut the speed back again to make up for the loss. Wonder what J will have to say about this one...? Answer: My standard reply: What facts do you have to back up what you posted? Have you talked to the CSR at Swift? Did you talk to the Freight Manager at Staples? And for bonus: perhaps, swift didn’t have enough tractors and farmed out the work to JB? -JHappy Dwellers Society Company Driver Division Answer: Seems to me if it was a MS trailer it was a Swift load that was farmed out. Unless of course Swift doesn't mind letting other companies use their trailers when they loose an account. Answer: Have seen a lot of other CO's hauling MS/Staples trailers and have thought the same thing until I picked one up once and I was the only Swift tractor there... PP Answer: Well J, seeing as your are in an "office" position at Swidt as you claim, I belive it should be so easy for you to call one of your bussies up in syrany and ask them to tell you? But I, unlike you, will do some actual research to see what the deal is, though I have heard talk of on here and on the road that they did in fact lose the account, and...since Staples actually "leases" those 45' roll-door trailers that have the tiny "M.S. Carriers" logo on them, there is no evidence that any out-sourcing is going on. Also note that Staples already had a second firm on hand, M&M, to handle extra freight. But I will do some more research just so you dont have to. Answer: If Swift did loose that account it is probably due more to incompetence on the part of the load planners than anything else. I dont how many times at Swift I have sat waiting for a load for 1/2 a day or more only to finally get dispatched to pick up a preloaded trailer that had been sitting in some drop yard for the last 4 days. Answer: You posted it, you back it up! Why should I do your research? And your research consists of “I heard talk”? Come on 2fast4last, if that is the best you can do, why bother? You need to make a decision: do I, or do I not, work for Swift? Which is it? Once you make that decision, then post your questions accordingly. -JHappy Dwellers Society Company Driver Division Answer: I saw one of those today, too, west of Worcester, MA. JB pullin an MS Carriers. Answer: Im gonna so a poll here: who thinks driver -J works for Swift? My vote is no. Call me stupid, which Im sure J will somehow turn this around and do just that, but if I were an "office employee" of Swift, I think I would be more than willing to determine if someone was posting false information based upon my "office connections." And J, the "hear-say" was posts put directly on this sight. And considering my first-hand experience pulling for Staples out of both Willington, CT and Montgomery, NY, I would have to say that Im in a far better position to speak on the topic than yourself, someone who just likes to take what people say, and twist it around so it looks better for you. I realyl dont know why you are so damn stubborn when it comes to topics regarding Swift and its total lack of competence in the trucking industry, and yet YOU STILL HAVE NOT PROVEN TO ANY OF US ON THIS SIGHT THAT YOU ARE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT CONNECTED TO THAT COMPANY IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM! I have listed facts time and time again, and Im not gonna sit here and annoy people by posting the same things over and over again just so you and your ego can manipulate my words call me a liar. The FACT is that the VAST majority of people, as can be seen by not only the attitudes of drivers and customers out in the real world, but also by the uncountable number of posts on this sight, HAVE NEGATIVE ATTITUDES ABOUT SWIFT and the way they treat their drivers and our ruining the roads by placing undertrained, and certainly underpaid drivers out in the most dangerous workplace (A FACT AGAIN!) in the world. And those are the facts J, and if it bothers you so much reading them, then dont! I dont lie just to make a topic...I worked for Swift/M.S. for 4 years, so I will say the I have quite a but of knowledge about that company. I worked out of Jonepa (I doubt if you even know what that means, but prove me wrong if u do!!) and also ran Target dedicated out of wiltny...those are facts, more than you have presented...so what now? What do you want to know Mr. less-than-factual? Answer: -JHappy Dwellers Society Company Driver Division Answer: Heres a poll - How many here gives a (edit) whether Driver J is affiliated with Swift or not? Certainly not me. I could care less. I see him as just another guy doin a job like the rest of us. Lets move on, shall we? Answer: Got some bad news for ya -J...Now i will put all these names in Swft code, as to protect their privacy...I just spoke with deremt out at jonepa, he's the division 28 (n.e. regional, im sure u knew that though) manager, and according to him, though Im sure you'll say hes a liar too (just because you're so friggin stubborn), as of Monday, July 19 2004, Swift no longer will run store deliveries for Staples out of Willngton, CT and their extension in Montgomery (Newburgh) NY. Though he could not give me a specific reason for why the account was terminated, he stated that Staples had been researching new carrier options for some time trying to find a better fit for the type of service they required. He also said that Staples was a very demanding customer with little room for failure. Swift planners often had difficulty getting drivers to cover loads out of there, particularly the CT warehouse, since many of the dedicated drivers left after Swift acquired M.S. and therefore there was a lot of irregular drivers and the northeast was not a saturated area with Swift. The loads were JIT, multiple stop in all areas of the northeast including New York City stores. He said his dispatchers as well as dispatchers in syrany who also covered that area always had drivers getting lost, missing appointments , and on several occasions loads did not even get picked up!! Again, he did not know the final verdict, and he was not even certain as to who may have obtained the account, whether JB is a fill in or permanent. He said JB might work well since they are more focused nowadays on dedicated operations and have a good driver base in the northeast and excellent recruiting capabilities. Now mind you, in no such way was he knocking Swift, he was simply stating what he knew. I asked him about other accounts in the northeast, such as Sears and Target, and he said so far they seem to be intact, though it has been shaky at times. Target is a solid customer, but Sears is an acquired customer. Deremt was the supervisor of my DM at jonepa, and was also the manager of the terminal up in ashleypa before that was closed down by Swift. There J, now call me a liar...you threw me a curve, but I still hit it out of the park. Answer: I do. Driver J is always going after people who knock Swift, and saying that everything they say is mere opinion or hear-say rather than factual. And my beef is that driver J is a hypocrite in saying that poeple who bad-mouth Swift are liars and have no proof to back up their statement, and yet for however many times I called him out to back up his statement of what he does for Swift, he cowers and goes off the topic. So why is it OK for him to call us phonies when he could be the biggest phony of them all? If that's ok with you large car, thats your deal then. But I for one will not allow someone to misrepresent themself just so they can make a point easily. Answer: Last night, I found a JB truck getting some quality down time in the dock of the Staples next door. As for the rumor of Swift loosing the account, it is a true statement. J.B. Hunt is calling anybody with a license and a pulse to try and staff the DC in the Putnam CT area. Answer: He has never once came after me for my comments about Swift. Also he has on several occasions pointed out short comings with Swift himself. Much like Shuffler has done with regards to Werner. Though I can certainly understand him becoming upset when people try to make Swift out to be the root of all evil in the trucking industry. Drivers themselves coupled with total deregulation in the 80's is the cause of our woes in this industry. You can not lay the blame on JB Hunt, Don Schnieder or Jerry Moyes.
