Schneider glass drivers.
Question:
I am set with a prehire for Schneider specialized glass and I think that they are who I want to drive for after I finish school. Are there any drivers here who have experiance with this? If so how long are you usually home? My paperwork says weekly but what part of the week? Is it for just a day? Any information you could give me on this would be appreciated. I have been reading alot of posts on this site and others but there isnt much info on SSC. Does anyone know Schneiders turnover rate? Thanks.

Answer:
Don't put too much store in "pre-hire", that ususally means the company has received your paper work but won't start processing it until you show up.
You can probably find more info about Schneider glass hauling at pumpkindriver.com. BOL

Answer:
Hometime typically is on weekends, how often depends on your dispatcher. It could be every week, every two weeks, three weeks, etc. Very rarely will you get to "sit" at home during the week, though you might "pass through" the house on your way to the pickup or drop.
And don't consider yourself hired until after you pass their "final" road test. Not to mention the **** test, DOT test, classroom test, range test...well, you get the idea. :-)

Answer:
I would go for it. I checked, glass division, into them quite a bit when I was looking around. They may have been smarter than who I choose. Drivers I talked with semed to like it. I will say most stated they will push you on some loads. Their time frames aren't always in your favor. But all in all I think it would be a good choice out of school.
I will add another thing. Most drivers I talked with said the turnover in that division is mostly with newbies. Every thing from loading times to hours you have to drive. Schneider is another big company and you will be a driver number. You have to decide if you can handle it.
