Cover you azz
Question:
Some of you may not read the RT much but there is a recent topic you should look over. It clearly iluustrates the importance of covering yourself every which way anytime something unexpected happens. Any type of accident or incident should be so fully documented that even a 1st grader would have no problem defending you in court should it come to it. Even the most minor of incidents can come back to haunt you when you least expected. To fully document an accident/incident do the following: Take photos, lot of photos. Try to photograph all damage, as well as the overall condition of the vehicle. If you can try to establish one or two location shots as well with the vehicles involved. If need be make notes on what you are photographing. Make a written report. Include time, place, weather conditions, what happened, overall condition of your vehicle, the other vehicles, note any damage that there is including any that may have been caused at an earlier time, etc. Call the police for and insist on a report. Get statements from witnesses including names and addresses or if nothng else try to get vehicle identification of anyone who might have witnessed what happened. If someone admits to being at fault try to get them to make a written and signed statement. Make copies of everything before sending this info in to your company. Be sure to follow any and all accident/incident procedures out lined by your company. Remember people. The only person that can and will protect your liscense and your livlihood is you. Link to original post Answer: It's getting to the place where it's not that hard to find a camcorder for less than $100. Getting tape, including statements could save a ton of grief. Tom B Answer: Plenty of photos and get names of any witness who can verify what they saw. Before and after photos are a good idea, but can be problematic to keep a reasonably recent set of the befores. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
