Question:
I just wanted to thank all of you for your advice concerning percentage pay vs mileage pay. After reading all your responses i've decided to look into a company that pays by the mile. I have been looking into H.O. Wolding out of Amherst WI. Here is some of what they offer new drivers. 28.5 per mile 1st 6 months average 2500/3000 miles a week, tuition payback, unloading pay/90% no touch, layover pay, deadhead pay, health,life,vision,dental,prescription,401k. plus a lot of other stuff. This is just some of what they have to offer. I will be talking with them again on monday to possibly set-up an orientation date by the first week of Dec. If any of you have any more advice i would greatly appreciate it. I am only trying to get as much info as i possibly can to help me decide on the right company for me and my family. Thank you all again for your wisdom and time. Be Safe and take care. Jimmijam Just "tweeked" the title so it would fit the page width. No mention of home time except it's good. Fairly important for a married person with kids. Have they told you how long out before going home? Also their regional and dedicated might be a good thing to look into. Starting with 28.5cpm is better than most. Make sure you ask every question you possible can before going to orientation. It helps to have no surprises waiting for you. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: You are very welcome sir I just wish I had a board like this when I started my career 25yrs ago.Good luck in your quest!! Hey stuffiu I see u live in ft myers me too!! aman Answer: Aman, drop me an email if you don't mind. Got a question for you. It's also nice to see others that live down here. I actually live in Punta Gorda now on hy74 about 5 miles east of 31. "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: I'm glad I helped, if I did! Sounds good--what you've got going with HO Wolding. I'm in Minnesota, so we're neighbors! I'm compiling a rather lengthy, but VERY useful compiliation of notes I've done over the course of my schooling and research (a lot of it here.) Keep an eye out, if you'd like, and when it's done I'll email it to you (and anyone else who'd like it.) *********************************************** Look before, during, and after when making those right-hand turns! Starkman Answer: that's a great starting pay. My only advise is to not listen to other drivers in the tstop...well, talk to em and all, you do occasionally learn something usefull other than how to lie out your rear, but don't believe it all and try not to laugh when some guy starts talking about his gov't conspiracy theories. Once spent 5 hours talkin to a guy like that, a little odd, but a good guy. GOOD LUCK! If at first you don't suceed, get a bigger hammer Answer: Glad to help when i can!! It sounds like your doing the necessary research, and the offer you've presented sounds reasonable.Good luck in your future!! Answer: Glad to be of assistance , wish you all the best . W O has a dedicated route up through Michigan into Ontario into Quebec and back into Northern New York. See quite a few of their trucks on HWY 17.
