super 10
Question:
i just spent 4 1\2 weeks in school all straight 9 trucks the company that i am going to train with has super 10 transmissions i need some guick tips please Answer: The first time I drove one was during a pre-employment road test. I got the job. It's real easy to use once you get the hang of it. When going through the gears you alternate "air" shifts with actually moving the lever, i. e. put lever in 1st with range selector in low. To shift to 2nd, move range selector to high and it will go into 2nd when you ease off the throttle. I personally liked it, but some hate it . I've only driven 2 trucks with Super 10's. On both, I noticed that if you wait until you ease off the throttle to move the range selector, you'll end up in "gear limbo". If this happens, ease off the throttle again. By then, the selector had enough time to "catch up" and go into the gear you chose.--------------------------- Answer: Super 10's: Gear pattern All the way to the left (closest to your leg) and back = 1st & 2nd Up and in the middle = 3 & 4 Back and middle = 5 & 6 Up and over to the right = 7& 8 Back and all the way to the right = 9 & 10. There is a lever (button) on the side of the gear shift. The button down is odd number gear, the button up is even number gears. Too shift between 2 gears in the same hole just flip the button, let off the gas and then accelerate. When up shifting from hole to hole (ie going from 6th to 7th) be sure to have button in the down positiion. When down shifting be sure to have the button in the up position. In either case do this as you hit neutral. The tranny will automatically go from low range to high range in the appropriate gear. I had to teach myself to drive a super 10. Took me about 10 minutes to have it down 90% and within an hour I was 99% proficeint in it. Answer: I guess I could've taken it a step further and at least told you how to get from 2nd to 3rd! ......and it doesn't get better than that! --------------------------- Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
